Mike,

I guess you would hardly desagree with the assumption that for the K-Albanians NATO stationing is hundred times more welcome than the "stationing" of the Serbian army.

While you may have concernse about Kosovos future, and the divisions among the international organizations, do not forget that Kosovo has been recognized by all the major powers that be!! So, while the Serbians are busy protesting and destroying their own cities in Serbia in the latest riots, Kosovo is sleeping in peace tonight.

Your analogy to Taiwan is false, the EU has not recognized Taiwan, while the majority of EU members have already recognized Kosovo.

First, I doubt that whatever amounts to indpendence in Pristina is going to be revoked. Yet at the same time, and I saw this watching CNN last night, we've come no closer to an international consensus on Kosovo. It was interesting to watch the broadcaster say there's division in the UN, division in the EU, division in the CoE, division in OSCE, just division all around.

Second, this means that a stalemate, deadlock, whatever you want to call it, will translate into Kosovo being a frozen conflict for the indefinite future. At the very best, K-Albanians can hope their part of Kosovo becomes something resembling Taiwan. Serbs will basically form their own governments in their regions and closely link up with Belgrade. Almost all K-Serbs want this. Regardless, Kosovo is, and will be, little more than a glorified colony.

So this translates into de facto political partition of the region, and Kosovo resembling something like Bosnia, with NATO stationed there for at least a decade.

"UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said that the UN Security Council’s resolution 1244 still represents the legal framework for Kosovo."

Correct Mr Ki-Moon, the UN is the only authority permitted in Kosovo at the moment. Are you going to protect the UN or give in to the law breakers?

Mr.Verbeke...should be more careful, since the partition ofBelgium could be "inevitable" in the future...

but, on the other hand...no wonder, since those mini-states always sing a foreign tune...

repressive moves against the Serbs in the southern serbian province could be a trigger.

better don´t be so stupid.
