Congradulation to the new state of Kosovo. i know there are going to be Haters out there but let be realistic here. They will declare and nothing won't happen. So let us tip our glass to Kosovo or Kosova. I want free Beer and make a Latsko :)

Joe,

Tom is just giving an Irish perspective on this matter and this is not a forum to debate the shameful actions of England towards Ireland over the centuries.

Today our hearts are with the Serbian people. This UDI is clearly a breach of international law and those that condone it should be ashamed of themselves.

"The Serbian government in a desperate attempt to justify the failed policies in Kosova, wants now stir up conflict and confrontation and as well as manipulating the Serbian minority in Kosova. It is time for the Serbian minority in Kosova to tell the Serbian government "enough is enough" and hands off Kosova.
The Serbian government lost a war as well as the political battle for Kosova.
(EA, 16 February 2008 17:13)"

EA,

1. I will bet you my last euro that the K-Serbs will NEVER tell Belgrade "enough is enough" -- quite the contrary they will now cling even tighter to Serbia.

2. The 1999 war was an unequal war of lone Serbia against Nato's military monster. So can you honestly take pride in such a "victory"?

3. Finally what political victory is there when Kosovo gets shut out from the UN and OSCE?

In the end you will have to talk to Belgrade again under UN auspices. Not soon perhaps, but in due course if you are serious about your nationhood.

Joe

Tom,

For you it should be time to recognize the will of the people of Northern Ireland. There are mostly protestant and don't want to be part of your Republic. There want to remain as part of GB. Why do you have this problem to understand and accept people's will?

SiriusBlack, said >> Next time they decide to take a trip to Kosova, they will need to bring their passports ...

Who will stop Serbian government officials and citizens from entering Kosovo without a passport?

Russia is just waiting for something like this to happen and the EU and US are not that stupid to provoke such a thing. As for the Albanians enforcing such farce, "take seat" you have no power, only masters that tell you what to do.

By the way say goodbye to at least 30% of Kosovo, after tomorrow your would be spanking brand new illegal state will shrink before the end of the first 24 hours of your proclamation. Followed by the end of electricity next week and probably water too, and no more trade routes through Serbia.

Good luck to you!

Every reaction is understandable in this case, yet not reasonable.
Tadic is dancing on a rope to secure a future for Serbia, Kostunica is defending the historical homeland, Thaci is dying to achieve what they were fighting for, the EU wants to finally settle something in its neighborhood, Putin is searching for allies...
But international actors must take one thing for sure: Kosovo will be officially independent.
A reasonable decision should only be taken with admitting this.
They had better lay their eyes on Bosnia and Macedonia now.
As for me, I wish all the best to Serbs inside and outside Kosovo, and good luck to Albanians to achieve their goals. All of them are welcome to Europe, sooner or later.

ZK UK

Serbians in Kosovo will still live in the Serbian province of Kosovo. They will have Serbian passports and live under Serbian rule and law.

I hope that's not a bitter pill for the Albanians to swallow. You will have no choice but to accept it.

Lets see what this quasi independence brings. Once again, enjoy your party and see you on the other side!

One thing is for sure, if there will be trubles in Kosova tomorrow the whole world will know that they where started by serbian ministers and serbian government, not the albanians. I cant se that serbs would need a visa to Kosovska Mitrovica in the near future.

Once a smart man of mankind said:" God, forgive them, because they dont know what they are doing" This man was Jesus Christ. Even that a lot of people opposed him, and even killed him, at the end they did as he said. So the visit of serbian cabinet ministers is just a vaste of time in this cold weather.

The Belgrade politicos are just busy playing the same old song -- but that doesn't mean to minimize it, because that music has all too often been accompanied by war and horror.
But not this time. The west has wised up, after only a mere 2 decades, give or take.
Finally, the US and the EU are acting together, and in unison, and it is about time!
Russia has proven so bullying and belligerent as to exclude her from any meaningful decision making
or effective influence. The west will not allow partition or war, but surely some autonomy. How this will get played out over the years remains to be seen. But if Serbia EVER hopes to actually join the EU, at least in the next 20 years or so, then it must begin to act like a civilized and democratic nation.

To Kosovo!

Actions always speak louder than words. Prime Minister Kostunica, President Tadic and our Patriarch Pavle must recognize the essential difference between the inspiring example of brave WWI King Peter who stayed WITH his men in their Golgotha across Albania to emerge as the victor of the war, and the instructive example of the foreign-influenced, naive King Peter II, who spent WWII far away in "friendly" England only to lose his kingdom.

If Serbia's leaders move to go, stay, and live in Kosovo regardless of any "KosovA" declaration, they will inspire every Serb now there to remain and many others, including me, to come to Kosovo. It was like this that Joan of Arc (Jovanka Orleanka) inspired and saved France, which was in a much worse predicament than Serbia today. But if Serbia's leaders stay in Belgrade and tell the defenseless Serbs in Kosovo "you stay THERE, trust us, we are supporting you from HERE," they have much less chance of succeeding.

A single, clear message must reach the ears of those in power: Lead from the front, not the rear, and your nation will follow you proudly and without fear of betrayal.

Neither the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) nor the planned illegal EU police mission have any authority to physically eject Serbs from Kosovo, because doing so would explicitly violate Security Council Resolution 1244. Their only strategy therefore is to pray for a repeat of the Serbian exodus from Krajina... once the Serbs are gone, they are convinced that the "problem" will be gone forever. Most people, Serbs included, will normally flee from apparent mortal danger unless they are inspired to stand firm by wise and brave leaders. History is rich with the proofs that, when bravely led by even one man at the right place and the right time, any nation can rise up and win any battle.

A further failure by Serb leaders to lead by example would only serve agents of defeat seeking to undermine from within our immortal bond to Kosovo. Just as the saying goes, "possession is nine tenths of the law" -- the physical presence in Kosovo of Serbia's national leaders is the key to winning this struggle for survival. It is both our most effective and our most peaceful possible defense.

But only if this cry for leadership spreads among our nation, amplified by the media and the Internet, can we succeed. This national appeal must come to our Serbian leaders not from any one individual, but simultaneously, from all sides, from the entire people, from the beating heart of every living Serb, reasserting the eternal rights won by our martyr Lazar and all our other heroes who have given their lives for the Serbian heartland of Kosovo...

Summoned by our entire nation and protected by our God of justice (Boze pravde), our leaders need merely to arrive and stay in Kosovo in order to checkmate the illegal, immoral and ultimately doomed effort to amputate the heart of the Serbian people.

This appeal to our Serbian leaders must find its way to them through every possible channel...

I find all this talk of "provocation" a bit rich.
After all, the K-Albanians hold higher degrees in the subject.

The Serbian ministers have every right to be in Kosovo and will continue to. We Irish know what it's like to have a part of our country ripped away from us and for some of our people to be in a minority in part of their own land.

We are with the Serbian people. History will vindicate you.

The visit by Serbia's ministers to KosovA on Sunday, Independence Day, is a provocation. It means Serbia does not want peace, but in a childish and cowardly attempt to prove that they still own KosovA, its ministers are entering the country to prove a point and stir up trouble.

I doubt that their intention is to calm the nerves of the jittery KosovA Serbs. KosovA Albanians will keep their cool and will not fall for any provocations. One thing is sure, next time they will have to apply for a visa.

Spread the call: To Kosovo!

Congradulation to the new state of Kosovo. i know there are going to be Haters out there but let be realistic here. They will declare and nothing won't happen. So let us tip our glass to Kosovo or Kosova. I want free Beer and make a Latsko :)

Black, if Serbians living in Kosovo are kosovars also, why did the Albanians brutally chase them out in 2004? Or are the albanians just playing nice now, for the worlf community to see? You guys are bigger actors than most Hollywood stars.

Enjoy the party Albanians.

Looks like the Serbians in Kosovo will just pledge loyalty to where they live - Serbia.

Call your fragmented and puppet land independent as much as you like and even believe it if you must, but just accept that Serbians and a significant part of the world will not.

Mospyt, have you maybe celebrated a little to much today? ;-)

I cant se that serbs would need a visa to Kosovska Mitrovica in the near future.

Prepare for a cold winter/spring, Trepca, Kosovo1 and Kosovo2 belongs to Serbia.. But Hashim and Cegu wont freeze, be sure, they are already millionaires in euro..

Joe,

Tom is just giving an Irish perspective on this matter and this is not a forum to debate the shameful actions of England towards Ireland over the centuries.

Today our hearts are with the Serbian people. This UDI is clearly a breach of international law and those that condone it should be ashamed of themselves.
