Why not ask for "Albanian as a second language" courses for the Serbs. Excellent way to extend friendship and good will. Don't want to keep those Serbs isolated from all the economic opportunities available because they can't speak the lingo. They might do something crazy like not participate in government, set up road blocks, and kill government representatives and clamor for their own state.

"I know that the pro-Serbian camp will try to “prove” that it is all Albanians doing and that the Serbian government is the most democratic and Serbia offers their minorities the best rights there are.
Guess what, save that for the tourists.
(blero, 15 February 2008 11:14)"

Well the fact that non other other minorities in Serbia such as the Hungarians or Bosniaks are complaining about being treated as second class citizens answers your question for you. The Valley Albanians have not made any specific complaints so it is hard to keep them happy.

When will the Serbian government stop making the same mistake over and over again?
When will they learn that treating your citizens as an unwanted entity will only cause the undesired rift?
Does Serbia actually expect that any non Serbian will be loyal to Serbia if they are treated as second class people?
This is what happened in Kosovo and we know the consequences.
What is wrong with having international humanitarian observers anywhere?
They are always welcomed in Kosovo.

"What valley Albians should be is the same rights as Serbs in Kosova, this include:

Double thier ministers in Serbian parlament,

Make the Albanian language official along the Serbian,

Change you serb national flag with a new one that represents all the people of Serbia; Bosniaks (Novi PAzar, Hungarians, Vojvodina, and Albasnians in the Valley).

Serbia's readiness todo that?
(femi, 14 February 2008 22:04)"

The big big difference is that Albanian's make up 0.82% of Serbia's (not including Kosovo) population while Serbs make up 10% of Kosovo's population - so about 12 times as many comparing as a fraction. Doubling the number Albanina ministers in the Serbian goverment will be doubling zero. Had more of the Albanians voted in the election then they would have won two seats instead of one, but the opportunity was there.

If it is not already the case then perhaps Albanian should be made an official language of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa municipalities. No need to make it an official language of anywhere else.

Serbia already has a national flag where as Kosovo doesn't.

Other countries in the area such as Romanian and Slovakia haven't added minority colours to theirs so why should Serbia?

No one is afraid of anything. the Valley residents are trying to get international forces to secure Presevo and so in a few years they can declare independence. if you want to be independent then move to Kosovo/a there you will have all your kin folks to keep you happy. what is the world coming too.

I wonder why Serbians are so irritated, worried, and distasteful at any peaceful 'international presence', when that will only assure the "peaceful policies" of the Serbian state towards its minorities?

What do Serbians have to hide?

hey ptolemy,

you never answered my question: why did you steal the name of a greek egyptian while you accuse serbs of stealing albanian culture in kosovo, in the form of the churches and monastaries such as decani? you said in a previous post (the one about the macedonian church) that the churches in kosovo are really albanian catholic.

anyway, why are there more albanians in kosovo now than before the war? doesn't seem like any kind of genocide to me.

why were albanians raping serbian nuns in kosovo in the 80's? is it because tito was in power for so long??? did this cause some problems?

why did a vast number of serbs disappear during the early 80's in kosovo?

why have 1000 serbs been murdered since 1999 in kosovo?

why is there no evidence of the 'hundreds of thousands of albanian deaths' in kosovo?

why did the albanians start running out of kosovo AFTER the nato bombing started?

why did the pogrom of 2004 happen?

you think that it's a result of serb oppression? is that why there is garbage all over the streets in kosovo, or maybe it's just laziness??

why did the kla terrorists train with osama bin laden?

why does albania have al qaeda ties?

why is saudi arabia building so many mosques in kosovo?

why is the kosovo governement nationalizing privately owned property?

why did the kosovo albanians elect a war criminal while serbia deposed an alleged one?

why is kosovo europe's center for narcotics and human trafficking?

why doesn't the EU want kosovo?

here miri, girl, i'll finish it for her: or else those big, mean gendarmes will do what they are there for, uphold the law, and arrest all those who are breaking it :) once again, why is it so hard to understand that states are ruled by law and that it applies to all?
presevo et al. albanians should stay nice and quiet. when partition of kosovo takes place as it seems it will, they will not go anywhere. if that's why they're jittery now, that it ;)

Here we go again with Slobodan Milosevic sympathizer bmrusila trying to undermine the freedom of speech of a minority in Serbia. What is quite shocking is that she claims Albanians there, and in Kosovo for that matter, have never been oppressed.
It is telling that after Serbian aggression manifested itself in the Kosovo war with Albanians being put in trains and sent to the Macedonia border, or summarily killed, or with their property and places of worship being set ablaze, all the likes of bmrusila can comprehend is their view of the situation and galvanize us with more hatred and animosity.

Here we go again with Presevo Valley Albanians. I just wonder are they paranoiac or just play the same old song of destabilization. My goodness they are always jeopardized where ever they live. Thanks God that no one pays attention any longer since they have no any support from internationals. They just visit occasionally but that’s it. I remember Albanians sent warning letters and complaints in many embassies about deployment of gendarmeries in Valley and nothing happened. No one is taking them seriously so they should stop with the same old game as the EU is well aware that there was no real oppression against Albanians ever, not even in Kosovo.

Albanians are playing scare card again.Well no one is that naive no more, and if they want their pensions which i`m sure Serbia can use for other means-they better think in which country they reside.
