Consdidering what the West has shown to Serbia, what else can you expect?
Nobody is your personal friend in business and politics.

I finished watching a documentary on the oilfields, and pipelines leaving Azerbaijan.

It's absolutely horrifying to see how Western industry, politics and payoffs work....
You quickly get a sense of what friendships actually are.

But the common denominator in all cases......The local authorities are bribed, and the people are left stranded, and the profits are reaped by strangers who don't give a damn about you.

I'm not a fan of Russian politics, but at least they have the brains to pay out the Chechens, and rebuild their society with the oil that goes through their territory..

Watching what the Western Governments do to third world country resources is astonishing..Very scary. Just as bad, if not WORSE than what the Russians are doing in many cases.

@gjipeja
What do you know about the Georgians?
The bulk of US interests and pipelines are going through Georgia. In return, the US grants lots of money and military advisors for the Georgian army. Are you suggesting that they're still freezing outside?
Please clarify your comment.

Once you see the bigger picture, village mentality of friendships are gone.

Many people on these boards treat the Russians with contempt.
Heed these words..The US will be snuggling up very closely with Russia in a few years...Then you can see a better picture of who can be trusted.

NOBODY!!!

Well ... watch out. I really don't want to see serbians trembling from the cold as it is happening in Georgia...
Russia is not a country to be trusted and giving the full monopole without reservation of a strategic resource as gas may be risky, but is about politics and interests so it simplify everything. Good luck though....

Russia acquires control of Serbia's petroleum industry for 20-30 cents on the dollar. Then thousands of Serbians are forced to give up their land for the proposed pipeline. This from your close friend and ally. There is a saying "With friends like that, you don't need enemies!"
