""Christian heritage has been in Kosova for centuries and belongs to all Kosovars."

Wrong again. Christian heritage and history belongs to all Christians, as well as to the country in which it is located. As we have already established, in this case the heritage is within the province of Kosovo which is part of Serbia. "

The statement Christian heritage has been in Kosovo/a for centuries is true and belongs to the ppl tht live on that land.

Christianity was in Kosovo/a prior to Serbia ever existing or its ppl ever setting foot on the ground that is today called Kosovo/a.

I don't think you like the fact that kosovo/a citizens are mostly muslim or albanians that are muslim.

The ppl of Kosovo/a were all Christian prior to the Ottomans entering that land. And the ppl of Kosovo/a are descendants of Christians. Now the question is how many belonged to the Orthodox faith and how many belonged to the Catholic faith. Its safe to assume that most were Orthodox bc of the Byzantine empire.

It's funny how you (Serbians) use this article in your favour. From what I understood the declaration of independence is happening. Whether it's happening on February or March it is still happening!!

To Canadian:
Cinderalla story must truely be your favorite since you still beleive that Rusia will be able to do something that will prevent us from declaring independence.

Mark I dont mean to be nasty but much of Kosovo has been free of Belgrades influence since 1999. The rest will remain under Belgrades influence for the forseeable future.

Your story of the future of Kosovo sounds nice and sweet - like a fairy tale in fact. If you truly believe that Yugoslavia in some way corrupted Kosovo and that once Kosovo is declared independence it will be milk and honey, you are about to receive a very rude awakening.

Mark my words within weeks of the decleration (or recognition) it will dawn that the hard work hasnt even begun yet, that the Kosovo political system (not similar to the Serbian one) is poisoned, not by Serbs or minorities but by the political parties and their clans. Of course the next target for frustration will be EU troops.

I'm not trying to be a party pooper but you have to wake up.

Seriously, what you need to get past is the narrow-mindedness. Kosovo is gaining independence because the acts of the government of Serbia were illegal, and an abuse of human rights. I do not see that this political stance has changed in Serbia since then. Yet, many Serbs are convinced that Kosovo should remain under this hostile and unremedied environment. It seems that Serbia has a long way ahead of itself until it learns that its self-importance is not in favour of its future.

Noel: "To those (i.e. Kate et al) struggling to reconcile respect of international law and the UDI, if the bulk of states in the widened international decision process regard independence as legitimate, it is perforce legal."

You are, quite simply, wrong, Noel. It is irrelevant which or how many countries decide to break the law - it is still breaking the law and would be found as such if/ when the case reaches the international court.

Under Resolution 1244 Serbia retains sovereignty of Kosovo as agreed through due process at the UN in 1999. I suspect you know that anyway, even those you 'et al' would hate to admit it.

Ahmet, do you intend to actually laugh on the 17th or do you just intend to declare your intent to laugh, at some future unspecified date, on the 17th?
(Jack, 11 February 2008 18:56)

Look at it this way, Jack. When you formally begin a sentence in a new paragraph, you start out by “indenting.” Indention signals the beginning of a new thought and you can assume that this is another way of using “intent” to declare the introduction to a new way of life for Albanians throughout the Balkans and worldwide. It will involve closing the chapter of any influence from Belgrade while ushering in a new way of life for all the people of Kosove. This life would include peace and the opportunity to prosper for those who elect to work for the common good of their fellow citizens. A concept that was foreign and did not exist in the former Yugoslavia which ultimately lead to the demise of the ever shrinking state that was corrupt and nationalistic to all of her citizens with an exception to the majority Serbian population.

‘EU to launch Kosovo mission before independence’ http://ca.reuters.com/article/topNews/idCAL1127831920080211?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

The government of Kosova during the UDI will state firmly that the EULEX and NATO are welcome to stay in Kosova ‘until further Notice’. Kosova has the sole authority in the matter and that will be shown on 17 Feb 2008. All those who have read a couple of pages on IR know very well that the resolution 1244 will automatically become invalid after the UDI.

The US and the EU must act resolutely after the UDI to preserve their credibility.

To those (i.e. Kate et al) struggling to reconcile respect of international law and the UDI, if the bulk of states in the widened international decision process regard independence as legitimate, it is perforce legal.

Christian heritage has been in Kosova for centuries and belongs to all Kosovars.

To the “ha ha ha” and the “here we go again“ camp,

You do follow the news don’t you?
If I recall the news of the 17th was circulated by media news and not by the Kosovo government (though it seems to be the true date this time, I am impressed aren’t you).
And, what do you think “declaration of intent” is?
What do you think will follow?
You see, we learned a lot from Serbian government mistakes.
You do not rush into things (the way the Serbian government did).
Good things come to those who wait.
The Kosovo government will provide everybody with the firm dates and those dates will be kept.
I will love to see if any of you is laughing when the day comes.

"For the moment, it’s still not clear whether the parliament will take a decision on the EU mission at the same time as it makes its declaration of intent, or whether it will leave that until the actual declaration of independence in March."

It is not up to the provincial government to decide whether or not the EU mission should be invited. It is up to the legal state in which the province of Kosovo belongs.

This is just a fact, not some emotive argument. Legally, no laws passed or decisions made which are not approved by Serbia, would hold water in any court of law.

I'm not saying, of course, that the EU isn't capable of trying to trample all over international laws, but they are perfectly aware that they are going to cause serious damage to the current frameworks for security and borders. I am ashamed at the EU for what they are trying to do, but let's see how it unfolds.

The celebrations for the announcement of a 'declaration of intent' to announce independence are certainly going to be a bit more muted than actual independence.

At least it will give those poor Serbian people in the southern enclaves time to pack their bags. Mission completed US and EU, but who ever cares about the people? Or the Christian heritage which belongs to Christians throughout Europe?

And Mr Robertson (Lord Elleroy of Portstown or whatever your title is) what was that stated aim for attacking Serbia in 1999? To stop ethnic cleansing and to create a modern multi-ethnic province. Then there was standards before status.

Not only have the most basic rights and agreements not been provided for as outlined in Resolution 1244 and in press conferences for the past 8 years, but it is obvious that they have just been junked altogether.

This whole debacle is a mess and potentially will destabilise the whole of Europe and cost us dearly for generations to come. What are you doing, EU?!

Still there is time for sense to prevail.

P.S. B92 editors - Please don't change my 's' to 'z' (eg. in 'destabilise'). It is bad enough having a government who acts like a US colony, without having English spellings 'cleansed' as well!

The EU decided to one step further in breaking the law. After they bypassed the UNSC they make now one step further creating the room in order to bypass the possibility of veto on mission by Romania and Cyprus. I wonder how far they are ready to go to implement their illegal agenda. This is really laughable. This artificial creation is even worse than the ex YU was. This newest attempt of the EU is direct humiliation of these two countries and one proof more that there is no equality among the member states. Do we Serbs need the EU membership? Do we need the humiliation each time we oppose to some illegal deeds of the mighty EU countries? Do we need to risk our future stability in favour for rotten EU which causes the instability worldwide? Do we need to be a one puppet more in implementing the USA’s agenda? We should stay out of the EU as best as we can and if necessary we can even pay them to stay out. This creation must fail sooner or later and for a once we don’t have to be part of it.

As for K-Serbs in Kosovo the only solution is to run parallel institutions under Belgrade’s umbrella. We won’t secede from the rest of Kosovo because that would be basically meant that we recognise the rest of Kosovo independence. Therefore, we choose to run parallel institutions and leave the space to reinstate the rest of Kosovo once the conditions in new world order work in our favour since the independence will still be illegal.

My God , every taken step by the EU and USA so far is illegal. I can't believe what I witness.

Well, as I said yesterday, I give max 1-2 years of this illegal freaking creation.

Ha Ha ha,

this is getting even more comical! Now it is an illegal declaration of "intent" !!! Sure lets wait again till March when the Russians will be Presiding over the UN Security Council and Spain has had its elections!

The EU clearly have no intention of supporting an illegal declaration since they cannot get unity & that is essential if the EU truly wanted to impose Serbia's dismemberment from the whole of its province.

What is becoming more clear is that they are now attempting their default position to create a partition within partition over time. The Dutch and many wavering EU members believed this to be the best and most unifying option last summer and now looks to be where they are headed while hoping to disuade the Bosnian Serbs to do the same - wishful thinking!

Lets be frank the EU mission (INLEX 'lawless' Kosovo) is all about controlling the ethnic-Albanians - nothing more nothing less. However, they will try to do this on a shoestring budget and little money will trickle down to the mafiocracy as many jobs are lost especially the inept KPC - has anyone had their redundancy letter yet? If not they are on their way!!!

Ironically Kurti was the most insightful individual amongst the ethnic Albanians however, his path would have been even more destabilising for the region and thankfully the UN have him contained - again oddly the UN had to ignore all that they stand for regarding human rights to do so - house arrest now is that not one of the undemocratic methods that the Burma junta are sanctioned for ? - oh what a tangled web!!!

All the while Serbia will block recognition and increase its control throughout its province while the ethnic Albanians sit in their self imposed and self declared EU dependency jail cell till the EU gathers thought over what and how it can resolve this Gordian knot they have been dumped with !!!

Irony of the EU choosing LEX (latin for Law) as a title for its mission is even more of a sick boardroom joke given that they are creating a partition within a partition dependency cell to contain those that they see as deserving of their overlordship, policing and judiciary !!!

oh what a tangled web we weave...

Here we go again, another postponement!

But to save face they are going to declare an "intent" next week! What a load of nonsense! Like anyone needs to hear their declaration of intent, the whole world knows their intent, they do not need to officially announce it! Who are they trying to fool!? I mean besides the Albanian people in Kosovo.

I suppose the Albanians in Kosovo will accept this in good faith and fully expect Independence in March! What does it take for these poor people to finally understand that they are being duped month after month after month!

The reason there will be no Independence in February is because the Russians obviously told the EU and US (behind closed doors) what they were prepared to do in retaliation should this nonsense of Independence actually happen! Plus the Serbs have shown absolutely no sign in caving in to the EU and US pressure to let Kosovo be stolen.

Love to hear how the Albanians are going to spin this into something positive!

B92 please be considerate not to distort the comment by omitting certain words. Thanks

I will love to see if any of you is laughing when the day comes.

clearly the attitude of many serbs hasn't changed at all regarding albanians. it's evident in your responses when you attempt in vain to mock us as you've always done. it's curious to bystanders when they wonder why "autonomy" wasn't accepted by the albanians. your responses are a clear indication to rational people that your gov't cannot be trusted.

Ha Ha ha,

this is getting even more comical!

Ahmet, do you intend to actually laugh on the 17th or do you just intend to declare your intent to laugh, at some future unspecified date, on the 17th?

"Christian heritage has been in Kosova for centuries and belongs to all Kosovars."

Wrong again. Christian heritage and history belongs to all Christians, as well as to the country in which it is located. As we have already established, in this case the heritage is within the province of Kosovo which is part of Serbia.

Those are the facts, Noel, and it must feel awkward for you having to dispute such a clear situation.

It doesn't look like your government sees it as comical. They're prepared to impose isolation on themselves again.

We need to congratulate Princip for his humor about Kosovo's Independence. Things can change. See? At least he cannot call for State of Emergency in Serbia!!! It looks like Serbia is proclaming independece from Kosovo and not other way around. This is real comedy.
