And now what?
Visas will still be required. EU will full-heartedly continue to sponsor any ethnic group aimed to carve out any part of territory they feel so. New conditions for Serbia’s path toward EU will surface. EU political inconsistency will continue; rules they applied for Croatia are unique and Serbia cannot call upon. Kosovo is unique and RS cannot call upon. Some additional members of DS party will be allowed to skim some profit from “privatization” process as a payback for the job well done. Few houses on Dedinje will get (gain?!) new owner(s). Selected few will notice a new account receivable line on their bank accounts. And now what?
Is the future any brighter?
Show me.

Mr. Tadic, can you please add that to your work list?

"We give support to our fellow citizens in Kosovo and
show them that we will never
let them down" Tadic said.
Brave words from a victorious
leader.Only time will tell
whether he is going to make good his promises.

Now the EU needs to be clear in its goodwill that it respects Serbian democracy and Serbian Sovereignty by supporting "European" ideals of integral multi-ethinic states and not those of divide and conquer.

The only help from EU that we can get is to link Kosovo departure with Srbska arrival, however Tadić victory will complicate all chances for Srbska Republika to join us in a bit for strongest country in the region. I strongly believe that spending out energy for Kosovo just to keep it and not thinking for other Serbs territories will be a biggest mistake after Dayton treaty. Condition of Kosovo independence with Serbska join Serbia is the only real option the Serbian Government and the President in his second term should push for.

Princip, you're right that the EU should now extend its collective hands towards Tadic and Serbia. They clearly wanted him to win, and his campaign was almost solely built on EU-integration. I expect a number of gestures to be made towards Serbia, starting with the SAA signing. Also, I think Serbia's interests in Kosovo will be much more considered. The EU has made no bone about wanting Serbia within its ranks, and therefore it makes perfect sense not to risk alienating Serbia (and thus killing Tadic's mandate) over Kosovo's fate. I'm optimistic. Guardedly optimistic, but optimistic nonetheless.

Princip, you're totally right: now would be the moment for the EU to make some big positive steps towards Serbia. Even as a pro-EU voter I have to say that unfortunately the past has shown that except words they have very little to offer.
Also I hope that Tadic will really show a more pro-active attitude than in the past. He seems not to have the energy of someone like Djindjic to really bring his program forward. And fulfill the promises he made in his campaign.

Hard work, indeed Mr Tadic. I wish Serbia united and not divided between the West and East any longer. I hope you can deliver this but this cannot be delivered if you do not cooperate with all political parties. At this moment all of us should have only one main goal, preserving Kosovo within Serbia and all personal interests and disputes between each other must be left beyond. I know this is going to be hard task, but do your best and do not betray Serbs living in Kosovo nor our cultural heritage. I also expect you to be more careful with EU's promises.

Fail.

This reminds me of Gordon Brown. When Blair resigned he stood up in front of UK and said how he will make all the changes and he will make this and this better, and we will be all living in a lala land in the days of Pax Britannia...etc etc etc despite the fact that he worked with Blair for the past 10 years or so and had the means to change what he didn't like, but didn't.

Same with Tadic - where is the improvment he is talking about? Why was that improvement not achieved earlier - he had 4 years to prove himself? What has he done?

Tadic victory is a scam. Of course EU will congrautlate. His puppet has conviniantly been placed on top.

If democracy could really change anything, it would be made illegal.

Serbs need to release that the West, especially UK, USA, Germany and France are treating her like a colony and not a country.
Thats why they think you cannot conduct elections, or run your own country.
Shame on the West and those who keep allowing such behaviours towards Serbia. Shame.

Hard work lies ahead - on that Tadic is completly right. Now onwards will be a task where his words and rhetoric will be tested not by the United Serbian electorate but by those "few" within the EU who blindly follow US inspired foreign policy - that is what Tadic must overcome if he is to be true to his words!
Congratulations to Tadic and wholehearted support in his message of a United Serbia in the EU not one that is dismembered and partitioned!

Now the EU needs to be clear in its goodwill that it respects Serbian democracy and Serbian Sovereignty by supporting "European" ideals of integral multi-ethinic states and not those of divide and conquer.
