Tighter border control is needed with Albania due to terriosts and drug lords. Just like here in America, Our government is strict by the the Mexican-American border.

Plus Albanians living in Macedonia need to become Macedonian citizens first and drop all relations with the country of Albania to help Macedonia grow and make a smooth transition into the E.U.

Peter Sudkya @ Post no. 7,
Excellent idea! The disintegration into Nationalist factions only makes the Balkans prey to outside manipulation. Were our leaders to put regional stability, economic etc. interests first we could begin upon the long road out of the mess we're in!

does anyone know where I can see a list of these 140 countries? I checked the Mac Foreign Ministry sight and it's an old list (apparently) from November.

The "Greater Albanian" thing was only said because I got the feeling that trepca1 believes that the visa issue was ethnic, not political.

But exactly, you get my point, if not CEFTA, then something else, but a political and economic union like the Baltic States had, or like for us in the Visegrad, was a great way to promote free trade in the region, free movement, economic assistance and it all equaled increased development. Relations between the Visegrad States and the Baltic States also promoted excellent relations between all the countries, and I believe if a proper Balkan Union (call it how you will) would be excellent to calm current socio-political problems in the region and promote mutual growth, allowing for easier EU membership ascension.

Peter, it has nothing to do with "ethnic Albania" (whats greater albania?) but more to do with a political action from Macedonia against Albanians. We are glad that there are no visa restriction, everyone will be much more happier.

CEFTA is weak, and not enforced correctly (ex: macedonia and imp/exp oil). The Balkans should create a loose union for movement and trade, sorta like an EU...maybe BU (Balkan United).

Smart move by Macedonia, although the drama that preceded this should have been avoided altogether. Macedonia can only benefit from trade with Albania, despite its proserb impulses that from time to time push its politicians to do stupid things. In addition, an open border is a border that we Albanians will not fight to remove from the map.

I think CEFTA (which comprises Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Moldova, Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro) is a good way to bring the existing non-EU Balkan states together, sort of like we Poles had with the Czechs, Slovaks and Hungarians (we were called the Visegrad Group), to help us all develop economically and enter the EU as smoothly as possible. Good relations with you guys now is critical for mutual development and EU ascension.

Greater Albania does not exist, or should a "no visa" policy only apply to Albanians? EU is against such Nationalism, you know?
