Serbian citizens will soon be issued with new ID cards, which will cost some EUR 12 each.

I don't mind having a biometric ID, even though I'm English. I will only object when they devise a card that can read one's mind and soul - and believe me, if they could, they would!

But I will miss my current foreigner's ID which was issued to me last year. It still has 'Socijalisticka Federativna Republika Jugoslavija' printed on it!

I like nostalgia, so I'll be sorry to lose this particular ID card.
