russia help will be great. They want Tadic to get elected so Kosova will be independent. Russia already has made a deal with Europe to have them recognize upcoming russian election. Russia will recognize independence as long as the West will allow russia to have one base in Bosnia and one base in Serbia. In return Russia will recognize Kosova as independent and will not opose American nuclear shield in Europe. Those two bases are symbolic and will end up like the russian bases in Kosova after the war (they had to leave because they were too expensive to run). So long for the Putin's empty promises.

Pyrros,

This Catholic American Soldier's heart beats the same for my fellow Christians in bondage.

My country needs to stop intervening in conflicts that are not of military or strategic interests to the United States. One can make arguments (that I agree with) supporting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as threats to American and therefore a necessary conflict. There is no argument that I have seen that a low intensity insurgent conflict justified the destruction of a people's nation, faith, history, and livelihoods. Espically in the face of ignoring such massacres in Rowanda.

Ha, ha, Russian desperation is obvious. They start to realize that all their arrogance, grandstanding and blackmailing can not prevent the independence of Kosovo.

What's your point? Serbia does not view people, their churches or their land and Trepca in Kosovo separately. It is all Serbia no matter how you try to spin it.

Garry, I think you are correct. The Albanian crowd here might want to mock Russia, but I don’t think that Europe has enough oil or gas reserves to sustain their countries through a slow down in production. This will have effects on the American economy too when Europe starts trying to tap into our sources. If it comes down to Kosovo’s independence or my oil and gas bills, you can guess that my interests will come first. The EU members are heavily reliant on Russian oil and gas for their citizens so I’m sure they will work for their citizens before Kosovo’s also.

Lenard, the guy quoted here said there wasn’t going to be a military response here, just an economic response. I’m betting that Russia will back Serbia with its ability to control gas and oil to Europe.

Toni, if you have a plan for Mars, then don’t tell anyone. Implement it. It may solve everyone’s problems if you put it into motion. You may even get your own country out of it.

Watch this thing wrapping up between Feb.6.2008 and Feb.18.2008. Russia is so desparate that they are proposing Kosova separation as a last resort.
Gues what! remember the new NATO troops deployed in the north of Kosova?, well there is a reason behind it, no Kosova separation. Mr Kharchenko get it through your scull, Kosova can not be carved accordingly to your apettites and your European satellite, Serbia.
You are terribly mistaken thinking that you can carve up the rich underground north.
That's what Serbia wants, they do not care about the Serbian people nor the churches. When international community decides about the independence of a country, first thing they look at is if the newly recognized country can survive economically. Since they decided that Kosova should get independence, that means Trepca is non negotiable, remains Kosova's main economic resource.
We know that what Russia and Serbia is after, Usa knows that the world knows that, forget it its only your dream Karchenko, Kostunica Putin.

All 27 member state of the EU need Russia a lot more than they need 2 million unemployed welfare recipients in Kosovo.Anybody who does not see this obvious fact is clearly delusional. There will not be independence for Kosovo in the traditional sense but a shared sovereignty between many entities.

Russia, in order to hinder the independence in Kosovo,
must use its huge energy clout to persuade countries in EU to refrain from approving the illegal UDI.
Any worsening of economic ties with Russia is something
that the west can ill afford.

Is it the same plan that Russia used on Chechnya flatten hole towns murder civilians at will ethnic cleans hole regions. Send out death squads to murder steal rape or anything else deemed necessary to be judge jury torturers and executioners to intimidate the civilian population. As I remember Serbia tried that it was a horrendous plan Serbia is still paying fore it and its victimized neighbors. The Russians have even less credibility to solve a problem or trust. Most of the Russian politicians how gave the criminal orders and turned a blind eye are the same ones advising and supporting Serbia on its road to moral and political failure the same old.

as we have seen in the other article, in which the k-albanian "prime-minister" is talking about less then full sovereignty...

the K-albanians are still being duped. they are being treated like little children.

I think that is wrong. they deserve honesty.

and if they knew the truth, they would not risk those measures announced by Mr.B.H. from Russia.

Mr. Botsan-Kharchenko I also have a plan for planet Mars, I will implement it when Kosova declares its independence. I am not going to tell what it is; I only can tell you that it is very secret. It may not be revealed never.

I have said it many times in the past on this site and i will say it again. Serbia does not care for K-Serbs and orthodox churches but all they want is undeground wealth on the north.
This is what Harchenko is implying on this article.

Oh, those darn Russians! Why cant they just "back down infront of the one and only superpower in the world?" As some albanian posters here used to say ;-)

Go! Russia Go!
The game is not even far from being over yet, no illegal independence for Kosovo in the near future!

But maybe Thaci will announce a date, probably the 10th dec THIS year, when he will announce the date for independence....
