What a tired old story. Albanian politicians sound like school yard children.

Thachi is quite a comic guy. He said Kosovo is ready? For what is ready? To be an independent state? Now, this is comic if it was not tragic in reality. Kosovo is ready to gain independence without implementing any standard of a modern and civilized society. Kosovo with its highest criminal rate in drug and human trafficking is ready to be an independent state???? Kosovo with its minorities behind barbed wires (not seen anywhere in the world) is ready to be an independent state??? Kosovo with its criminal political establishment is ready to be an independent state??? Kosovo with its PM directly involved in war crimes is ready to be an independent state???? Kosovo with the most corrupt administration in the world is ready to be independent???? Kosovo with its children selling the cigarettes and drugs on the streets is ready to an independent state???? And so on, the list is very long and if I missed something do forgive me.

Mr Thachi, how about implementing some of the standards and then speak about the readiness.

However, I wonder what will you say when come back from Brussels? Perhaps the trip to Brussels might be useless after all. I am almost certain that Thachi is invited in Brussels to be warned against taking any unilateral steps. Wonder what will you say after the meeting? I think you will be nicely surprised after the meeting! Besides that soon lasts already for few years, so do address when something really hapens to that soon.

Heck yeah Kosovo will get independence. Kosovo will send a man on the moon too. if Hashim Thaci said it it must be true. Rediculous. The trueth is that Thaci will not do anything before gettin ok from his masters in London and Washington. As someone on a albanian forum wrote about him" he is nothing but a fat cat in Pristina" and he will not let go of his political and economic powers, even if it means staying in Serbia!

If there is no declaration by the end of March then I think the message is it's not going to happen.

One day Thaci says he already has a date and now he is attempting to negotiate one. He needs to get his story straight.

"Independence" has become a word thrown around so much in Kosovo it looses its original meaning.

If by independence, Thaci means "independence from Belgrade's rule", he may very well be correct. But if he means independence as a formal sovereign and internationally recognized state, he's only fooling his constituents. Thaci would like nothing more than to administratively detach Kosovo from Serbia and make it a semi-legal territorial entity that will require massive amounts of foreign aid and assistance from those powers determined to prop it up. No doubt a good percentage of that aid will go to line his pockets and the pockets of his closest allies.

I really cannot see Kosovo being anything more than a semi-sovereign, tenuously legal, and marginally effective entity, the result of bureaucratic compromise between the EU, Russia, and Serbia.

First we'll wait until after the Serbian presedential election. Then we'll wait until after the Spanish general election. Then we'll wait until pigs fly.

I think the K-Albanians better get used to the idea that this is not going to happen. Apart from questions of international law, Kosovan independence will just cause too many problems worldwide.

Thaci & Co can declare whatever they like, just as I can declare my house and garden an independent republic. But that does not make an independent state.

have you noticed that since they started talking about this independence, only the dates are guessed but not the YEAR. and this has kept moving and moving like a stone in the river with no permanent place.

The suspence is killing me. Like most of us here feel. Lets do this and see what happens. Is international law going to prevail or is this going to prove the UN and its charters are worthless. Or are they going to tell Thaci to wait. I cant wait to see what happens. There are so many ways this can unfold.

In other words under the current Resolution and laws the EU mission cannot legally be sent to Kosovo even if invited by the provincial governmnent.

It's not rocket science - the laws make a lot of sense. The framework is to protect countries from just this sort of thing happening, therefore there are no loopholes.

Any declaration of independecne is ILLEGAL. The Serbian army has the full right to intervene if such thing happens.

Hope the West will support Serbia. And Russia and China too!

Hey Albanians here's for you a little suggestion that might come handy for you: There's a piece of Land called HALAL'IB between Egypt and Sudan that doesn't belong to anyone: I suggest you guys to move there! It's a Great idea! it's 4 times the size of our serbian province, Kosovo, and I'm sure that 2 ml albanians will be more than welcome, no signs of serbs there!. And in 50 years time you could claim, as usual, that you've always been there since Sultan Murat II and claim it as yours! ;-)

He was one of the 22500 expelled students of University of Prishtina by Milosevic (out of 23000 total). He never got the education that Seselj, Karadzic or other serbian wanted war criminals. If that what your civilized universities produce, I'll glad the he didn't get any "education"!

It is obvious that these postponements are making independence declaration more and more far away from unilateral in to coordinated and supported by more and more countries. Don't be surprised if at the end independence declaration will be supported even by most objectors like Russia!

I am fed up with some countries I am citizen of. So I declared my independence yesterday unilaterally.

Now I am Republic of Free Atamania. We went to a Thai restaurant to celebrate today, it was veeeery good. Yes, that independence tastes really great. Unfortunately it was not just sweet but somewhat sour as well: only pre-independence currency was accepted.

Not sure, what's next?

i would wager any & all of those opposed to independence that there will be no further delays if i had any faith in your ability to pay up. however, i genuinely believe none of you would take me up on my offer because you all know that this is a done deal as much as we albanians realize it.
