KS,

Oil, gas, mines... I wish both the Serbian province of Kosovo and the independent state Albania the best.

Let's be good neighbours!
Serbia and Albania!

Watch, just now they find that Abkhazia has the highest level of natural gas in the world and Transdniestr has enough oil to run the world for 6 months and you will see how gast the US will recognize them, hehe. It's funny!
(Peter Sudyka, 18 January 2008 22:58)

It's more believable that Kosova was to cover up the Monika scandal than that Bill Clinton knew 9 years ago on how much oil Albania is sitting on.

"If Albania found oil and Kosova has one of the BIGGEST mines in Europe..I'm sure we can stream those resources WEST. In either case that Durrë - Prishtinë highway will come in handy transporting resources. "

I read into this the other day, some new findings in the North of Albania, there is supposed be enough oil and gas to run the US for 5 months, 3 billion barrels of oil and 3 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Iraq is an oil heaven, everyone knows that, Afghanistan is sitting on top of tons of untouched minerals and resources, this has been known for a while too, but I can finally see why the USA is so interested in the Balkans (over a quarter, almost a third is found in Albania)!

Does everyone else get now why the US is so adamant in recognizing Kosovo independence and improving relations with Albania?

Can any body tell me why Russia trying so hard to block everything about Kosova? Do you think that they doing this because they want to help Serbia? If Serbia accept independence of Kosova what do you think will Russia agree with this? Will they unblock SC? I think not. What they doing it is not becuse they want to help serbia. It is becuse they want to dictate. They using serbia to achive this.

Even if what you are sayin is true, albanians would still prefer than to staying within Serbia. Nothing can happend or nothing can Serbia do, that would make us ever accept to remain part of Serbia. Most people in Kosovo know that things will get worse before they get better after independence, but thats a price we are very willing to pay if its getting independence from Serbia.

Big words from someone not living in kosovo.

Not so sure it’s true what you say there.

Sorry my friend but there will be no independence.

The long term plan of the albanians is not to have Kosovo as a separate republic, they get independence for Kosovo and then hold a referendum to join Albania.
You think all the maps for a united albania are just there for nothing?

Contrary to what you say, Switzerland is a member of the UN, but not the EU. Also for your information, to be a member of the EU, you need unanimous agreement from all EU members, something Kosovo does not have either.

This I understand very well. As a Pole, I know what it means to be dominated by a bigger power. In your position I would not care about any organization either, I would only want to be free.

If Kosovo and Albania decide to merge, they will have to be recognized again within its new borders by the UN general assembly with the endorsement of the security council. I am sorry to say, but that route is also not an option, otherwise it would have been done back in 1999, but Albania does not want to risk its seat at the UN over Kosovo.

To those who suggest an independent Kosovo will not be a member of any international organization (because of Russian blocking, or whatever):
That seems counterproductive, from Serbia's (and Russia's?) point of view. After all, that's just more incentive for (or pressure on) Kosovar Albanians to join Albania, isn't it? After all, Albania is a member of all those "clubs". So if you're really afraid of greater Albania, then making an independent Kosovo's life difficult is NOT a good idea.

Olf

Unfotunately it looks like Russia is going to block it at the moment.
Never mind, K-Albanians are not in rush. In order to get started first stage is Supervised Independece supported by most of UNSC but not supported by Russia and Serbia at the moment. Second step is Full Independece recognised by Russia and then Democratic Serbia and of course that seat at UNSC than is ready.
More worrying is what is going to happen with Serbia especially if no EU for Serbia. I think that this qustion is more interesting?

Another price to pay for illegal Independence is no World Bank membership, no foreign investments, no tourism, no FIFA representation, increase on cost of living because of Serbian economic embargo, the few EU countries that support Kosovo will be dishing out higher amounts of Charity money to support their little pet project.

Furthermore, no Serbian passports and no UN passports since this move goes against the UN. Water and electricity will be rationed daily.

The Kosovo government will be continuously sued by Serbia, Pristina will lose most of the lawsuits thus adding to their economic problems.

Muslim Kosovo will in fact now be ruled by 5 or 6 EU countries so in fact they still won't have self respect and self rule.

(Peter Sudyka, 18 January 2008 14:47)

Peter,

In all the honesty if Kosovo will be a member of the UN or not does not matter now.
What does matter is the fact that an independent Kosovo does have better chances to prosper.
People in Kosovo want freedom and the ability to provide for their families.
Independent Kosovo will be a more desired place for any investment (foreign and domestic).
The entry to UN will come with time.
You never know, Russia might find Kosovo as a place that might decide to do business with.
These things do not happen overnight.
Serbia itself might realise that “getting rid” of Kosovo was the best thing that happened.
Tensions are high now and nationalistic rhetoric is everywhere. Things will calm down with time.

The Kosovo Albanians need to understand that declaring Independence in a sovergn stata will be illigal and no counry will recognize them for the sake of creatin a new country within a country, once and for all they need to get the talks open and settle for the broad autonomy that serbia has offered. Not illegal separation simply because the USA is supporting them in their quest of indipendence its the Kosovo Albanians that will have to live with the Serbians not the USA or any other supporter.

Remember you had a very turn out at the last election.

Not so sure it’s true what you say there.

Sorry my friend but there will be no independence.

Switzerland is indeed a member of the UN but the Swiss have not joined the EU yet although they cooperate closely. However,I do not believe the EU will be complete in the west until Switzerland and Norway join.

Watch, just now they find that Abkhazia has the highest level of natural gas in the world and Transdniestr has enough oil to run the world for 6 months and you will see how gast the US will recognize them, hehe. It's funny!

It's more believable that Kosova was to cover up the Monika scandal than that Bill Clinton knew 9 years ago on how much oil Albania is sitting on.

KS,

Oil, gas, mines... I wish both the Serbian province of Kosovo and the independent state Albania the best.

Let's be good neighbours!
Serbia and Albania!
