"Both are survivors of the massacres that took place in the vicinity of Gospić."

No one has clean hands in the Balkans!

This was startling to me.

The majority of my maternal ancestors were torched, burned alive while taking refuge in the local Serbian Orthodox church near Gospić during WWII.

It is incomprehensible to me that such bestial acts are repeated again in my lifetime.

Why has this been handed over to Croatian courts?

Is the Hague incapable of conducting a fair trial and the country of the accused is?

How would these individuals feel if their grandmother was burned alive? The slitting of the throat was the MO of the Ustashe - that obviously made it to the late 20th century without fail.

Hopefully these individuals will rot in jail!

This story is being suppressed in all Canadian newspapers.

Not one word unless you count the story in the Toronto Star about a Medak Pocket documentary where the article blames the Serbs for ethnic cleansing Croatians.

It took me almost 3 weeks to get them to print a retraction!

RE: A Test for European Courts.

This will be the test for Croatian Courts on the murder of innocent civilians during the civil war's of the former Yugoslavia.

The Croatian courts should also allow the testimony of the the UN Canadian soldiers who were witnesses of the massacres that occured in the Medak Pocket.

The Hague Tribunal has failed miserably particularly in the Milosevic case where claims of Genocide, and compicity of the Serbian Government & false calims of "Great Serbia" during the former Yugoslav wars' is and was false.

The Trial of Ante Gotovina at the Hague Tribunal will also be a test-however there is question on Ante Gotovina guilt. He was only an army general who was ordered by Franjo Tudjman to attack the Krajina region illegally crossing the UN zone and breaking UN mandates. Franjo Tudjman should have been indicted to the Hague Tribunal not Ante Gotovina.

The massacres that occured to Serbian civlians was done by lower level officers and not by orders of Gotovina.
