Yes Joe, I admit that I am a socialist. Do you and your Arrow Cross buddies have a problem with that? I'm entitled to my views as are you.

I think you will find that the Left is far from insignificant as you think.

P.S. Youre not getting Vojvodina back. Tough innit.

Niall,

I think you just showed your true leftist face. In reality you stand with Castro and Chavez instead of the people of Cuba and Venezuela. By the way we treaten those people? Nobody.
You seem to be one of those hopeless "professional" leftists of Europe, who fortunately do not count much anymore.

Well, compare how the OSCE reacted to the Georgian and Ukrainian elections with how they reacted to the Russian and Belarussian ones. Note their political stances as well. Unfortunately I don't believe their view would be 100% objective with Serbia.

Bang on Peter, the OSCE are driven by political motives and vested interests. Just look at how they whitewashed the 1996 Russian Presidential elections, another one that Yeltsin and his cronies stole from the Russian people not to mention him sending the tanks on the Parliament Building 3 years previous (which was democratically elected by the Russian people) an act of barbarism that was praised in the West in the name of liberal market reforms and democracy.

Why should Serbia allow the US & Brits to monitor elections when these same 2 countries seek nothing more than the total defeat, subjugation, surrender, enslavement and dismemberment of the Serbian state and people. Would the US or the Brits allow the Serbs to monitor this year's Presidential elections?

This action by the Serbian government and their utmost determination to hold onto what is rightfully theres - the autonomous province of Kosmet in the face of a vicious & concerted campaign restores my hencewith battered faith in International Law and the right of small and defenceless states to uphold their territorial sovereignty.

I stand with the people of Serbia as I do with the people of Cuba, Venezuela and Palestine.

well well well ..... now I have seen and heard everything ..... the message loud and clear now is that the US and UK don't trust the OSCE one bit ..... both of them should be reminded of the saying 'too many cooks spoil the soup'. How are the Serbians ever going to vote in peace with all these foreigners running all over the place?

It's good to ramp up punitive measures against hostile nations for irresponsible actions. They should have included France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands too. They are hostile nations that are unworthy of trusting for important activities like democratic elections.

Peggy - OSCE monitor US and UK elections. Like they will monitor yours. It is a necessary part of being a democracy.

The US election in Florida was very close. At that point one of democracies flaws kicks in, being human counting error. The public gave their assessment in 2004 with a definite Bush majority.

NYCitizen,

Sure we have our share of problems but this is still a country where hundreds of millions of people would like to move in from all over the world. And it is a free country.

Great, that makes the US a non democracy, in which case they have no business spreading their version on democracy around the world.

Thanks KS for pointing that out to everyone.

Remeber the famous hanging chad in my state of Florida? The countries Serbia choose to monitor her elections have in the past demonstrated no contempt, or showed no aggression towards Serbia. So why should Serbia allow monitors from the U.K. and U.S.? Lets all remeber the 1990's the U.K. and the U.S. bombed Serbia with depleted uranium tipped bullets and went thru it's stock of tomahawks! Killing over 4,000 civilians. I can't wait untill the 2008 elections in the states! The media already has censored Ron Paul, a man with integrity, honesty, and a true Republican. The media is spinning the masses in America and the media will choose the two candidates they want to have elected because this way they can control either one. We might as well have a monarchy in America because the two parties are one of the same.

Please! Do you people remember the Florida debacle of 2000? Will we ever know if Bush rightfully won? Many Americans think not. And the US wants to act as monitor in Serbia's election - thanks but no thanks. US, please concentrate on the problems in your own country, i.e., 9 trillion dollar national debt, social security may be bankrupt, healthcare issues, economic recession, huge trade deficit, US image abroad, and on and on. US, you are NOT the masters of the Universe.

'displaying open hatred towards USA.'

Have these people been living under a rock for the past 70 years or so, or do they consider Serbian public just that stupid?!

USA displays open hatred towards Serbia constantly for the past few decades - with its venomous propaganda, its lies and of course infamous tireless effort to rip Serbia apart.

USA and UK ESPECIALLY should not be allowed to monitor Serbian elections. If parliament allows them to come view Serbia's elections they might as well call in a couple Wahabbis to monitor as well.

peggy

Why do US and UK need to monitor the election? What business is it of theirs anyway. Who monitors their elections?

They have this arrogance to assume that everyone is corrupt except them. When they allow Serbia to monitor their election then they can ask to do the same. Until then, it is not anyone else's business but the citizens of Serbia only.

They are portraying Serbia as some third world country which cannot even conduct an election. How insulting.

Oh, God, my heart is bleeding now when rejection left the USA's embassy disappointed. I guess afterall Serbia can afford it to be named as dissident country :))))). I would appreciate very much if the USA offered political asylum to Cedomir Jovanovic and alikes.
