Its almost as if Serbia is already in the EU, they already like ti dictate what we say or do. :)))

The EU is just upset they lost to the Russians in the Turkmenbashi deal for the trans-Caspian pipeline. Now they are up in arms that Russia is slowly getting a more firm control of European gas/oil supply.

I actually like all of this media coverage for NIS. It might drive up the price, free global advertising. :)

Thank you Stuart. A sensible posting on this website for once.

Serbia can sell NIS to whoever thy want, but don't come whining when you realise giving the Russians control of your entire gas and oil inducstry was a mistake. And accept that you are giving it to the Russians at a knock down price.

Nikola - I don't see what the EU would do to prevent your economy growing - Economic growth of the new members is one of the aims. It's generally the politicians of the new countries themselves which prevent it.

Everybody knows that if EU doesn't transform itself into a democratic state where citizens feel represented and free choice, it will be same story again. Things will fall apart. Especially when our group of countries joins. I don't want it to be another delusion of unity and equal rights.
But I just see that EU will be the most diseaster of all times.

Stuart your claims are absurd. The pressures on the media in Russia are grossly exagerrated by the western media. not only that but the business policies of major russian media before putin came to power (their business arrangements with major state owned firms) sealed their collapse long before Putin came to power.

How their Brussels make such a blatant attempt to intervene in the affairs of a EU member state. Serbia is not a EU member so it should in no way take into acocunt what the EU says on this matter. A deal with Russia benefits Serbia especially since Russia's offer is much better then the little reported offers of OMV/MOL.

Nikola

The EU is overrated. While I agree there is A LOT to do in Serbia.. and I mean a lot the EU is not the answer. They will be good for us for the first 5-10 years at the most and then we will want to accelerate our own economy and they wont like it.

The EU works... but it works for the big guys.. U.K. Italy France Germany Netherlands and Belgium.

Every other country in the EU will see that after a few years they wont need it and it will become useless and it will fall apart just like the USSR.

Lenard, so Serbia cant sell its company to Russia. Good or bad this may be its their choice. Serbia lives with the end results of this. The EU has lots of positivs but to be a member you must pay out your nose. This deal with Russia is to piss off the EU and thats why Serbia is doing this. Besides Croatia told off the EU when it came to their fish & waters. Why cant Serbia do the same? The EU wants Serbia, but Serbia dont really need the EU, and the EU knows this. Serbia has been doing fine w/o being in the EU so far and will do fine in the future w/o being a member.

Zbyszek

Ho! Ho! How nice is EU. They worry about Serbia. They try to grab Kosovo from Serbia by they deny the right of Serbia to sell something what belong to Serbia.

Their intentions are absolutely clear. EU want to control Serbia and EU wants Serbia to sign SSA. Despite of this what many said on this forum it is not Serbia who need EU. It is just opposite.

In a few days Putin is going to be in Bulgaria and just watch what will happen.

The EU is not a single entity, but composed of 27 member states. 27 countries of Europe. Although it has many failings, it is viewed as a good thing overall. One big difference between every single EU member and Russia is that in the EU we have freedom of media and freedom of expression. In Russia this does not exist. In Russia B92 would not exist. In Putin's Russia, journalists and human rights activists are murdered. I can't help but think that the pro-Russia, anti-EU posters are not really representative of the population of Serbia. I hope the upcoming elections show us that they are an unhappy, albeit vocal, minority

Yeah right, as open and transparent as can be between two corrupt nations. Why should Russian oligarchs be offered a 5 year monopoly on oil delivery to Serbia so that Gunvor can pocket our money?
Surely there is already enough corruption in Russia and Serbia?

Kostunica really keeps the Milosevic legacy alive.

Here we have a classic case of British bias and how they are further trying to push Russia back into a cold war like position.
The Brits and the Russians are having a mini-cold war where they shud each other's foreign institutions. Pay no attention to them.

The Serbs are only hurting them selfs its only a branch line that will be adequate for a while for more or less just their needs. Which is a very bad deal when they even lose controlling interest of their own energy co to Moscow intrest. You can get now energy from Moscow or any where else in the producing world without losing control or having to sell the company and it assets dirt cheap than the real book value. The same thing will happen to Serbia like it happened Belorussia and Ukraine if they don't tow the Kremlin line. They also thought they didn't have to pay the world price for energy from Russia how so wrong they where. With a press of a button at the Kremlin the flow stopt until they payed up. No wonder senior Serbian ministers resigned or where forced to resign when they spoke up. How bad of a deal it is fore Serbia and its energy interests. Maybe some of the other ministers how voted for are pushing for it like Kostunica where promised lucrative jobs for them selfs and there cronies. When they are thrown out of politics they will have well paying jobs in the soon to be run and owned Russian NIS Co as a reward for their loyalty to Moscow.

Momentary, EU is commenting everything badly what Serbia would like to achieve for their economic independency from Western Europe. But EU would like to see coal mines in Kosovo should be at their disposal and US military base linked up with CZ.It is not easy for Serbian leaders to find right balance between the players,Russia and EU, but speaking from EU citizens' point of view: Serbia will not get any poklon in order to open EU doors. It is not always gold what is shining. Balance between both players, educate your people in behaviour and you will be king of the future!
