Mike,

Let me tell you and the others here a "secret".

Kosova with be supervised independent in a matter of weeks and it will be recognised by many many important countries and you will see. The status quo is not anymore acceptable for more than two million Kosovars. The so-called "admiministrave" independence has been achived through a war against ethnic cleansing and it was not and can not be anymore a Serbian "offer".
Do you really believe Kosova to remain part of Serbia? I would be really worried of whoever is thinking of that....

Mike,

Kosovo is not interested in compromise because the Americans have promised them everything, much like they did in Vietnam and then left the country hanging in 1975, and before that the same thing happened in Korea.

The US has not had a military victory since World War 2 and you cannot even give them all the credit for that War since the US had many partners in that battle ironically the Serbs were with them too, unlike the Albanians, Slovenians, Croatians, Muslim Bosnia, Italy and the BIG mouth piece Austria!

Once more we here from so discreet and anonimous "high level" officials who are so willing to spill the beans - do they even exist ? If they really are not just imaginative journalism then it is just hear say of some low level junior who is being used to the water and can can be sacrificed for getting it wrong just like we have been told this deadlne and that deadline again and again and again.....

So we've got three big things coming up after the general Serbian elections:

1. Kosovo status
2. EU Mission to Kosovo
3. SAA signing

I would push for a Status Neutral condition on Kosovo (administratively separate from Belgrade but not an independent state) and couple this with an SAA signing to get Serbia on board its path to EU integration. In return, the EU establishes its mission in Kosovo. Serbia gets 2 out of the three goals, and Kosovo gets the last third.
