Bruce,

Why would any Serb want to visit the UK?

I am Canadian and have been to the UK more times than I cared to go, quite frankly the UK is not what it was in the 80's. It too crowded, too dirty, too violent! There are better places to visit in the world, like Turkey, Slovakia, Poland, Greece,... I can go on and on and the UK would not even be on the top 50 list.

How many carrots on a stick is the EU going to offer Serbia? Isn't the message clear that EU in Kosovo = No Serbia in EU?

I also read something on BBC that Russia is trying to make a support deal to Serbia where it sells NIS and does not join the EU.

Perhaps the people at B92 can research this further? See link below

Olf - as you well know, the SAA can only be signed if the EU agrees not to attempt to dismantle the sovereign territory. That's a very fair precursor by the standards of any nation.

In the minds of the pro independence posters, this is a done deal because the US and Germany have said that they would recognise a unilateral declaration of independence, but this is not the case at all.

The EU has to be unified in its agreement to break international law, and thank goodness some countries have more sense. In order for Kosovo to be recognised as a sovereign state it also has to be agreed by the UN, which certainly isn't going to happen.

I fully expect a new proposal for 'independence' to be put forward by the EU, which recognises Serbia's sovereignty while offering a watered down version of Maarti's plan which is basically a high level of autonomy dressed up to keep everyone happy. Including the US, which wants to be seen to fulfill its 'promise'.

Bmrusila, you are right on the spot here!

I also belive that if Kosovo becomes "independent" legally or not the EU are going to start to return all "political refugees" from their countries back to Kosovo demanding that they apply for "kosovan" passports, after they have done this they will need to reaply for new VISA to schengen countries, and guess what, big surprise! no visa will be issued, because "there are no war in independent Kosovo"!

In that aspect I am also sure that its Kosovo that are stopping serbs from travelling in EU without visa, because despite all anti serb talks among albanians many of them still wants serbian passports. Just look how many that are given out in Nis to kosovo albanians.

The reason that Serbia is not in a positive schengen visa regime are the Albanians living in Serbia. Besides wanting Kosovo for its own military and political agenda IC support Kosovo independence in order to return all the Albanians with illegal status abroad. IC needs good excuse while explaining those Albanians that they finally got their independence and there is nothing to fear of going back home. However that is not Serbia's problem and not enough good reason to agree on its partition as there is nothing in this world that would be good reason to accept desecration of teh country.

I sincerely hope that for sake of Serbian people this agreement is signed. If this is postponed Serbian politicians would serve injustice to it’s population. I also believe that Serbs in Serbia proper want this. What would happen if this is postponed we don’t know but population would not be happy.
