Peter I agree with you in your statement that the Serbs are being extremly arrogant,as usual.Somehow I know you would eventually come around. The problem the Serbs are confronted with is the reality and their refusal to acknowledge Montenegrains not being Serbians.Serbs assume that if they share the same orthodox faith, both being slavic and did I forget to mention they have access to the Adriatic seaport , the Serbs desperately needs, that more than qualifies there Serbness.Otherwise the Serbs will be landlock for ever. And don't be intimidated by Peggy, who supports Serbia's failed policies.Someday it's possible she also will see the light.

Doni "russia and all others recognize montenegrin church, even albanians have their own church."

Yes there is a Albanian Orthodox Church which regonised Autocephalous church. The Montenegrin one certainly isn't recognised by any other.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Orthodox_Church_organization for more information.

montenegrins are asking to have their own church in serbia for their minorities there. thats why serbia has no religios tolerance.

We have a central authority (you could even call it a headquarters) in Rome, this is why there are no decentralized church authorities in the countries where Catholicism is the religion of the majority.

I don't believe that there are the same in the Orthodox faith, as there is the Greek, Russian, Romanian, Armenian, Serbian, Georgian etc. churches. From what I gathered, the Serbian Orthodox Church has the power to recognize the Montenegrin Orthodox Church, but refuses to do so, I imagine for national reasons.

That is all I was saying, I was not joining the Albanians in anything.

peggy

Montenegrians have a solution to this. Why don't they simply apply to Russia, Greece, Egypt or anywhere else there are Orthodox churches. Why have they become so vocal because Serbia is not going to recognise a Montenegrian Orthodox Church?

Is is up to Serbia at all? Does serbia make the rules for the Orthodox faith? NO. Serbia does not make the rules, so why make Serbia the bad guy here?

Albanian camp you are so desperate to pin anything on Serbia that you will try this ridiculous piece of non news.

Peter, I though you were smarter than that? You being Polish and I assume Catholic should know that there is no such thing as Italian Catholic Church or Polish Catholic Church etc. The Vatican would never allow it.
Well, Orthodox have rules and regulations in place too.
Why are you joining the Albanian camp in condemnation of Serbia when you know very well it is not up to Serbia to give it the thumbs up.

I don't see you telling the Montenegrians to go to Russia and try there. That's because you know that what they are asking for is not within the rules.

Albania is probably the only country in the world that has such a high degree of religious tolerance. Than you wonder whose fault it is for the burning of religious cults in Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia etc.

Macedonians DO have their own church,
being the rightful heirs of the Ohridska Pravoslavna Crkva, abolished at the time of the Ottoman rule due to Greek pressure. Serbs have no right to claim Ohrid and to deny Macedonians their rightful church, identity etc. Having set up the depraved Vranishkovski in Macedonia as "legitimate heir" of Ohrid, and failed miserably I might add, they now try to claim that CPC hasn't the same right in Serbia!! Look, there is such a thing as spirit of the law instead of the letter. Look to the teachings of Jesus for a clue!

"Belgrade has rejected a DEMAND by the Montenegrin Orthodox Church (CPC)"

That was their first mistake, no one will take them seriously if all they do is make demands, they are in no position to do so.

Second is this the same CPC that tried to storm Serbian churches in Montenegro and even scuffled with local police?

So interesting to see albanians all riled up about this, you think the EU cares? HA! right this news will be forgotten in 4 hours.

Last thing I have to say is good, I don't recognize them and nor will I ever, so good. Stay out of Serbia if you already voted for independence.

montenegrins have the right to have their own orthodox religon or churchs. Religion is not owned by serbs and greeks by the matter, why they even ask serbs??
Lets make all orthodox serbian churches in montendegro illegal, all of them in response.

The same rule of not registering would apply if a group of Montenegrins tried to register a "Montenegrin Catholic Church" as there already is a Catholic Church registered. The Montenegrin Orthodox Church is self-styled and not recognised as being part of the Eastern Orthodox Church communion.

KS,

you are wrong once again. In order to make such a comment you should first know something about Orthodox Church and its hierarchy. There is some order that should be followed in order to become an independent orthodox church. If you are interested then you could find out easily what it takes to be an independent church. Montenigrian Orthodox Church should be first canonized and recognized by all orthodox churches. Macedonians have no own Macedonian Orthodox church as well. This has nothing to do with Serbs having being mean to Montenigrians or being no democratic society. There is simply a rule that has to obeyed. If Montenigrians want to register its religious church then it must be under another name. And this has nothing to do with Serbia being acting arrogant at all as it has never been.

In Kosovo, the Serbian Orthodox church was there before the Muslim religion came. The Serbian Orthodox church is a traditional church.

The Montenegrins in Serbia weren't even allowed to vote in the elections in Montenegro so why should they complain if Serbia doesn't give them a non-traditional church?

Yaroslav

pre 16 godina

First of all. The so-called "Montenegrin" Orthodox Church is not a legal, canonical Orthodox Church. Serbia has every right to refuse their application if they illegally and illegitimately try to use the Orthodox label.

KS

pre 16 godina

If you treat your own brothers (Montenegrians) like this..how do you think Serbia is going to treat us "Muslim Terrorists"?

Religious freedom is an important aspect of any country. It seems that Serbia is trying to create Montenegrian enclaves in Serbia.

Just think if Kosova made all those Orthodox Churches in Kosova illegal to operate and ordered to be demolished..think what Kate/brmusila/Jovan would say.

Remember that "democratic Serbia" is an oxymoron. If you feel offended than please review fundamentals of democracy and cross examine Serbian history in the last 20 years.

Montenegrins in Serbia do have a choice. If they do not wish to be Orthodox Christians any longer, they can become members of any other religious community registered in Serbia. The choice is wide.

If they want to be Orthodox Christians, they have to obey the canon of the Orhodox Church. No
Orthodox Churches recognize self-styled Montenegrin Orthodox Church (CPC).

Njegos must be spinning in his grave because of this.

Peter Sudyka

The Serbian Church is being very arrogant here, there is no reason as to why the Montenegrin church should not be recognized. Serbs and Montenegrins are separate ethnic groups and have the right to their own church, why is recognition so painful for Serbia? Because Montenegro wanted independence, or what?

Vuk

I am partly Montenegrin but have always considered myself a Serb, this Montenegrin Orthodox church is a complete farcical and has only been created to try and create an even greater void between Serbs and Montenegrins.

I believe strongly that Montenegrins hold the key in uniting the Serbs and restablishing our former glory. Some of the greatest Serbs that have ever lived were Montenegrins and I hope that in the future we can come together under the same church to enjoy devine multiethnic prosperity.
