Many of Tanjug's online links to subjects (economy, sports, etc.) and news stories haven't been working for some weeks - you just get code instead of news. Wonder what's up with that.

It is interesting how some people want Serbia to enter EU while balking at the practice of government-owned media, a practice widespread in EU.

Government-owned media outlet is not Serbian peculiarity as independents wants us to believe, it is rather in line with EU practice. Serbia is not an exception, nor oddity.

The most respected among them, BBC, Radio France, ORF and others are goverment-owned media outlets. There was a plan to sell 20% of RAI to private sector, but it was suspended as a bad idea because Italy has enough of private media already.

Serbia's biggest problem is the total disregard of journalistic code of ethics, regardless of who owns the outlet. Untill this is being cleaned, it really does not matter who owns the media, it's the same unreeliable source in the two different packages.
