Serbia should diversify and put more effort into finding markets outside the EU so that it can free itself from EU pressure, usual economic blackmails and avoid downturns in the economy that are linked to the EU markets exclusively. Serbia should also in my opinion take the initiative and maybe start exploring an economic zone between the Balkan states based purely and exclusively on economic grounds. It would make a lot of sense and I am sure that a lot of countries would benefit out of it.

Thanks.

The import situation is pretty awful. Serbia has to reduce the deficit... we should stop modeling ourself after the US, the country with the biggest deficit in the world. For exports, we need to send them to markets that are emerging. So, the EU is not a good choice, because the EU is an already developed market, and can not really accept a huge increase of our products. Russia on the other hand has consumption booming, so they are an ideal partner for growth in economic trade. We also have a free trade agreement with Russia, so it is pretty dumb and sad that we have not used this to get much out of it. EU integration means NOT integrating with Russia... so that is why we are not jumping forward even faster.
