A court in a western Serbian town has decided to send a man to jail over the cruel killing of a neighbor's dog.

i agree with mike completely, this kind of thing just makes my blood boil. but at least something's happening. at least the psychopath is in jail. maybe others will reconsider before acting. who knows. i know i'm giving my oldtimer extra tlc today :) this kind of thing reminds me to appreciate more what i have in my trusted old paws:)

"If you kill and animal like that, it is tantamount to killing a person."
No it is not. Human life is valued, by the law and morals, above animal lives - else what about all the animals and fish killed and consumed for food everyday? If they were equal to humans it would be cannibalism.

The punishment isn't nearly enough. If you kill and animal like that, it is tantamount to killing a person. In my opinion, animal cruelty is right up there with child molestation and rape, and those found guilty should be punished in the same severity.

No it is not. Human life is valued, by the law and morals, above animal lives - else what about all the animals and fish killed and consumed for food everyday? If they were equal to humans it would be cannibalism.
