Olf, first of all “10th of thousands” technically would be 100’s (1/10th of 1000 = 100). I’m assuming you mean tens of thousands (ie multiple tens of thousands, basically 20,000 or more). Given the current population of 10,000-11,000, your claims would have put the population of Medvedja at well over 30,000 in the 1990’s, and that is simply wrong.

Secondly, I was referring to the municipality of Medvedja, not just the city, that includes Banje Sjarines and Sijarinska Banja of course.

The census I looked at listed people not households, I’d be curious to see where you got your numbers. It appears to be unsubstantiated propaganda and you usually use proper facts, its generally your conclusions I disagree with. Check your source, I’m 95% sure you have bad information there.

“5,800 of 10,000 is majority not minority”

Olf, your mixing my comments about the census from 1991 with the one from 2002, that’s why your confused.

Here’s a couple sources that are reasonable.

5800 is the number of households not of Albanians in Medvegja with the sorrounding villages and if you add to it Albanians in Banja e Sjarines and its surroundings (Sijarinska Banja) than we get the figure of 10th of thousands.
Just to correct the percentage in you posting even though wrong ;

Olf, there’s only 10,000 people in ALL of Medvegja TOTAL! It was never an Albanian majority.

WHO CARES what anyone has to say? The bottom line with regard to all of these leaders (EU/US/UN) is Serbia does what they want & if they don't, they'll find some loophole to make it work in their favor.

These superpowers are acting like spoiled children looking to get one parent's approval.

Serbia isn't owned by anyone. To the contrary, it would be a benefit to the monopoly of the EU to have "control" over another country. The EU is nothing but a front for a large company that monopolizes on smaller subsidiaries.

Leave us alone, get out UN & NATO - we don't need the US as we're still picking out the knives in our backs from your baloney.

Dardania (Kosova) is de facto independent. It will be de jure very soon and we will all be happy that this mess ended peacefully. We will all get back to our lives, thinking about the future of our children. Dardania (Kosova)- Serbia borders will be inexistent in 10 years and all this creazy talk of today will be the laughing stock for the next generations. We should keep flame-throwers from both sides away from the solutions and wait for the better days to come.

The idea of a greater albania is a method used by the milosevic regime to divert attention from their violation of human rights during 80's when milosevic decided to go against fundamental yugoslavian beliefs of an equal federal state, and instead promoting nationalism which slovenia saw and openly declared as counter revolutionary and an act by serbia to break up yugoslavia. I strongly believe milosevic was sent by either the soviet union or the USA to demolish the once strong federation. It is quite clear this is true because he totally went against the 1974 constitution and acted counter-revolutionary, which was the foundation of a prosperous federation of equals - 'socialism' and milosevic adopted something totally different - nationalism. Which backfired disastrously.

Funcakes,

It is absolutely clear now that Tadic is not an American and EU puppet, if he wins in February his policy on Kosovo will be the same as Nationalist Nikolic's. Tadic approved Serbia's new resolution for Kosovo yesterday and for the first time ever confirmed he agrees to send the Serbian army to Kosovo to protect the Serbs if NATO cannot or will not, but more importantly he said NO to the EU membership without Kosovo. Many EU countries, if not most, who were supporting Kosovo's Independence were doing so thinking that Tadic would be controlled by them, things have changed, watch now in the coming days how many EU countries come forward with seconds thoughts about supporting you people.

It is strange to see Bob Petrovich and Kate criticizing UN for not creating multiethnic society just in 8 years after the war while they are not helping the same issue by insulting anything Albanian. Also they fail to see the fault on themselves and they fail to ask themselves as to why we are at this point where there is no Yugoslavia. If you and few more alike stop blaming other for your fault and apologize than we could talk of some kind of multi ethnic society, the very same society that Serbia is failing to secure in Serbia proper( Vojvodina, Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvegja). Issue of multi ethnicity is a complicated is a complicated one. It becomes more complicated when people that that know nothing try to solve it especially when they never mention happily integrated minorities like Bosniacs, Turks, Ashkali, Gorani Roma

Bob Petrovich

What did Serb authorities use to create their state on Albanian land, terror, mass murders, rape, expulsion.?
Albanians in Serbian constitution are minority but that refers to Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegja. K-Albanians are not included in voting the very same constitution and feel not obliged to act according, neither they feel as the minority within Serbia since thay do not answer to Belgrade for the past 8 years.. Minority on Kosova are Serbs, Bosnians, Turks, Roma Ashkali, Gorani but for sure not Albanians.

Kate says
Anyway, so many unfulfilled promises - why are the refugee returns not taking place?! I ask the same question. Why 10th of thousands of Albanians are not returned to Medvegja and why their properties are not repaired. I think Kate that we need to answer this one too.

No thanks europe, we don't need your peacekeeping help. We know what that help is like.

In the March riots when the albanians were going around destroying and burning churches - the french KFOR troops took all the people that were inside a church and drove away. They told the people inside "albanci albanci." (meaning that an armed albanian mob of 5000 was coming) Instead of protecting the Serbs and the church they drove off and let the albanians dessecrate the church. Then what they did is they brought the Serbs back to their church after it was destoryed/burned/desecrated. This makes me sick. What kind of pecekeeping is this?

Please KFOR/nato UN america get out of our country!

Bob Petrovich: "Self-determination belongs to peoples, not national minorities."

Absolutely right! How can one of the main stated aims of the 1999 attack by Nato have been to create a 'multi-ethnic' province, when the very same countries are now supporting mono-ethnicity at the expense of other groups who rightfully live in Kosovo?

And why is there constant reference by 'Kosovars' to being Albanian and the link to the Albanian flag etc.? If there is such blatant Albanian nationalism, and Albania exists as a neighbouring country, then how can these links be allowed when speaking about 'independence'?

Surely independence would not reflect another nation altogether? Ceku has now said that if there is a de facto partition of Kosovo, then there will be a move to unite a Greater Albania.

Does nobody in the mass media or the various governments not see the irony and hypocrisy? I suspect that they don't care and see what fits their angle/ agenda.

Anyway, so many unfulfilled promises - why are the refugee returns not taking place?! The whole thing is a disgrace, and yet again the peaceful solution which could have been found is not even being given a chance.

Use of term "kosovars" is a tale of discourse based on blattant propaganda.

First of all, there is no such word in English language. "Kosovar" in Albanian means inhabitant of Kosovo. It can be Serb, Albanian, Roma, Turk or anybody else, not only Albanian.

And here comes the spin. In English, the term "kosovars" is used to describe Kosovo Albanians ONLY (a national minority in Serbia) and hide the fact that Kosovo Albanians are national minority with NO right of self-determination.

The term is transplanted into English to create impression that "kosovars" are indigenous people of Kosovo.

Self-determination belongs to peoples, not national minorities.

However, there is still no final stance from the Russians and Chinese,” Waldner said.

-As far as I know Russian and Chinese stance is very well known and clear. Dear ladies and gentlemen do make a new resolution within the UNSC that will approve sending EU mission. Serbia would not oppose to new resolution made in accordance to resolution 1244 which clearly states that Kosovo is a part of Serbian sovereignty. In another words just make a new resolution that will still guarantee Serbian sovereignty.
