"I guess the 1st Balkan War is not ringing any bells for you..."

Yes what of it? Serbia's fight for freedom and reestablishing of its territory in the Balkans. Like I said there were no German, British, French troops helping Serbia. The London treaty was not necessary but it happened anyway. Serbia fought for its land is the point my friend. Maybe you guys should have tried a little sooner?

Bulgaria and Greece being members of the Balkan league removed the Turks from their respective territories as well.

Olf, can you ever simply and plainly, make a comment without a condescending remark like, how sad? That goes for most Albanian commentators here, why the constant sarcasm? Can we all, whatever side you're on, just make a comment and move on? Or comments like, "Kosovo will be independent, no matter what", that is your opinion and does not have relevance to a particular story. Albanians do not see things like the Serbs, and Serbs do not see things like Albanians - let's just exchange thoughts without silly little comments. I need no one's pity, I am an educated adult and can reach conclusions by myself. Now, as far as this story is concerned, in my opinion the Radical party is making an attempt to retain power, that is obvious. As much as I despise the actions of the US and the EU, they are self serving expansionists in my opinion, Serbia must move towards agreement with the EU. They do not necessarily need to join the EU but, signing an agreement of unity with them is a good idea. Serbia should remain an independent state, free to deal and trade with the world, not just another little puppet to move to the whims of the EU's big players. After the horrendous bombing campaign of NATO, i.e., US and EU, on Serbian civilian territory, Serbia should never accept to be a partner of this malicious coalition. Better to just smile, do business, shake hands, make a profit, and still have the luxury of retaining your respectability. As much as I think Illic is a crude peasant with a little power, he is correct in saying, "Serbia should not enter the EU on it's knees, NEVER!!!

#10: Zbyszek,

My views on the Serbs and Albanians historic and factual (legal and moral) claims over Kosova(o) etc. can be read in my earlier comments in this forum. The “simple logic” as you call it is not that simple if you have read my contributions in this forum. My today’s comment was a simplified continuation of my views!

When I wrote: the economy of Serbia is performing very badly, I compared it with the economy of western countries particularly Germany, Austria, UK, Ireland etc. I totally agree with you, that the economy of both Kosova(o) and Serbia is a mess! I know that from my own experience in dealing with companies from Serbia and Kosova on behalf of a big western European company!

Without the intention of being personal and dismissive, but I think your post is not necessary based on substance but rather it is an emotional reaction, which again is not very progressive. It sounds like: >>> my (things, ideas etc) are always better than yours

Simple Minds, your logic is really simple. It sounds like: "Big Sam and Crazy John already decided that they are going grab your summer home so it doesn't make any sense to install a protection and alarm system. They made their mind up. Point."

And it is not true what you say about Serbian economy. It is many times better then economy of Kosovo which for 8 years is "on public aid" and under Albanian management
even power stations produce less energy that they can.

Billions of dollars of US/EU taxpayers went to several accounts of Kosovo/UMNIK corrupted politicians. Europe is not everything. There are a lot of other countries that would like to trade and cooperated with Serbia.

It would be very interesting what EU will do in case of appruval of Kosovo resolution by Serbian Parliament.

And don't forget that Serbia as my own country keep honor over incentives.

What is a Kosovar? A made up ethnicity.

Second, Ment Serbia reclaimed Kosovo as well as the surrounding land through its liberation against the Ottoman, I don't remember any nation actually fighting with Serbs during this time, Did Germany send troops to Kosovo in 1912?

NATO intervened in Kosovo which was a internal issue and not a war, only after they stupidly got involved did it become a war. Also I guess the was is still on going since Kosovo still belongs to Serbia and thats not about to change.

To: uncletonny

Albanian existed before Serbia? HA! alright shoe me a map, There is not one map on this planet that depicts the nation of Albania before 1912.

Kosovo was, is and always will be Serbian. No matter how many Albanians live there. We have the documents, the monuments, and the history to prove it. What do you have? nothing but a larger inhabitants.

We can take this to court if you like?

These MPs are really some guys! The Serb economy and industry is flushed down the loo after several devastating wars and they are still talking about how to defend another lost cause (Kosova(o)) by means of military force. Radicals are at the front of this campaign followed closely by Kostunica and co. How sad! Instead of focusing on day-to-day problems of the Serbia’s citizens MPs are making politics of wishful thinking!

Obviously US and EU have already decided to recognise the independence of Kosova(o) and MPs of Serbia want to discuss about the law on elections in the provinces (incl Kosova(o)).

People in Serbia are suffering, family budgets are shrinking by the second and MPs want to talk about irrelevant things such the law on elections in the provinces !

Anyway who is going to care (or event take notice) of a resolution of the Serbian Parliament for an already taken decision on Kosova(o)? US or EU? I don’t want to be emotional or sound arrogant or but I don’t think a resolution of the Serbian Parliament reiterating the Serbian sovereignty over Kosova(o) would make any difference. US and EU have already made up their minds.

To conclude Serbia can decide to either join the EU or stay away and become a pariah state. I think EU, be it even without Kosova(o), is the better alternative for Serbia but of course this will have to be decided by the citizens of Serbia at the presidential elections on January 20 or February 2, 2008.

So if the mother is serb(according to you)how com the children are albanians.Serbs came to balkans in the 4-th century and albania existed long b4 then, and lets not forget that albanians were catholics and christian orthodocs prior to ottoman invasion .So the question is:Who built those churches in kosovo, since they are older than serbia itself.

Whatever you may believe, Albania has no designs to become any bigger than it already is. Also, part of the Kosovo independence deal with the West is that it will not seek unification with Albania.

I'm willing to bet Ahmet meant "Kosovars as rightful owners" rather than Albania.

As for who owns what in the Balkans, all I can say is that the Ottomans left a mess behind and that means that Albos and Serbs will keep on disagreeing on Kosovo for as long as there will be Albos and Serbs.

One thing we do know for sure though. Serbia annexed Kosovo in 1912 through war and ironically, it lost it again through war. I suppose it's a confirmation of the saying that "What goes around, comes around."

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all the Christians in this forum.

Just one thing to make it clear Mr. Ilic,
Part of your teritorry is not being snatched, but is being handed to the rightful owner. Justice is prevailing after so many decades of injustice.

Olf,

You are correct. These parties are showing their displeasure with a symbolic act. They are trying to help Serbia through this difficult time and cannot appear weak against the EU, but Tadic will guide Serbia through this and lead Serbia into the EU. Of course, Kosovo will pay the ultimate price when it can't play in the EU because it couldn't swallow it's pride and come to a compromise with Serbia. They may have lost another battle, but in the end, they will have won the war.

Ahmet, Kosovo was never part of Albania. Albania wasn't its own country until 1912 after centuries of rule by the Romans, then Bulgarians, and finally the Ottomans. Then Albania became its own country without Kosovo included. Kosovars should really study history and learn fact, not legends about two headed eagles. I'm sure that unicorns were probably from Kosovo too. If justice were to prevail, there would be more jails in Kosovo for the corrupt politicians who have lied and stolen from the people. Tell me something, why are your politicians so afraid of disclosing the source of their wealth?

Olf

pre 16 godina

I wonder if someone in Serbia would really care so much about this declaration and it power. I believe that this is going to be another symbolic act of the parties in power just before the elections in eyes of Serbia electorate. Serbia people have shown in all the recent polls that Serbia parliament adopts nothing that concerns Serbian public, how sad.
