Croatians are very envious of Slovenia's economic and political success. They seem to have the same inferiority complex that Slovenia has when it compares itself to Austria.

What an ingrate and bigoted statement from the Slovenian government. If Croatia was anything like Serbia, Slovenia would have been occupied by Croatian troops for years and would now be accused of war crimes for liberating its territory. The Slovenes are very lucky to share a border with Croatia instead of Serbia and that is why they were able to join the EU in the first place. It is finally Croatia's turn to get a piece of the EU and it's not Slovenia's place to block it.

For supposedly intelligent people, former Yugos can be so childish. For supposedly tough people, they are so sensitive. Truth and reconciliation commission now!

Just for the record for everybody: suddenly there is a Serbian Joe, who tries to confuse people by writing under the same name. The other one is Josip.

How is Slovenia it denied citizenship to 10s of thousands of people. They lived decades their and lot of them are married to Slovenians. Supports bigots that demanded expulsion of over 70 Roma from their own homes and had the army to move them. Instead reading the Slovenian bigots the riot act but instead encouraged them to be violent ,instead telling them they were breaking the law and will be dealt with accordingly. Imagine a country like that leading the EU for 6 months. The EU is truly overrated why would any country give up its independence and be told what is good for them what ls going to happen in their own countries like Croatia and Serbia and be led by morons go figure. Slovenia acts like a mouse that roared imagine being led by them its going to be one big mess with Slovenia in charge!

All countries should be treated equally with regard to joining the EU. On that basis neither Croatia nor Serbia should be joining let alone Macedonia or Albania. All of these countries are either corrupt, have a failed judiciary or mistreat minorities. Bulgaria and Romania also were allowed in far too early, they are far from "European standards" on crime and corruption. A new generation of relatively honest and non-xenophobic politicians is required. Until they appear the door should be closed.

So yes, Croatia is not like Serbia in that Croatia used Western aid to promote its intolerance, whereas Serbia relied on itself.

Rupel should have known better :)

Get off your high horse Ivo. Croatia is no better than Serbia. Your lucky that Tito was Croatian, because if not your coast line wouldn't be what it is today. He took money from Serbia & the other republics to build that coast line. Lets be democratic here not a fasicit. Grow up and quit winning. Your not about to lose territory, then again if Kosovo gets udi, you may.

Sanader is right. Croatia is not like Serbia. Croatia was nationalistic, chauvanistic, revisionistic, and aggressive towards its minorities. It engaged in ethnic cleansing, and continues to have an unhealthy relation with its immediate and WWII past.

But unlike Serbia, Croatia buddied up to the West and played on its alleged role as the "Antimurale Christianitatis". So yes, Croatia is not like Serbia in that Croatia used Western aid to promote its intolerance, whereas Serbia relied on itself.

Rupel should have known better :)

Croatian will never allow serbia to get special treatment for EU membership. Serbia must obey and follow the rules, and not black mail EU on RS or Kosova.
