NBS to issue new banknote series

The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will issue a new series of banknotes with improved design and new features to combat forgery.

They should remove the small bills from circulation and replace them with coins. Metal is a better alternative to paper, when we are dealing with such small values of like 10, 20 or 50 dinars. Japan for example has coins that are worth 10 dollars. Coins last longer... so it's economically better to use this.

I think this is very good news for Serbians and the National Bank. It would also be an opportune occasion to remove one zero from the new denominations, resulting in 5000 Dinara now being issued as 500 new Dinara which presently would equal around 64 EURO, a less inflationary type currency. This move would bring it into line with other European currencies. I would also suggest that the National Bank issue denominations from the new 5 Dinara to the 500, due to the cost of printing versus the actual value and lifespan of the smaller values, the 1 (old 10) and 2 (old 20) should be issued as new coins. Good luck to the eventual winner of the design competition!
