To Serb Camp here, if your opinion is "membership in the EU" if you think thats a joke than why don't you get out of the EU and go back to your country and live in belgrade? If the EU is such a bad place why are you all living there?
(KS, 15 December 2007 19:20)

So if that is the case then ensure all Kosovo Albanians get out of the EU and have them come home. Watch they will be complaining about the EU rules just like the UN.

my dear albanian friend,... citizen is being written with a "c"...

by the way, the EU can´t afford a "black hole" in the middle between the western-european countries and Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.

it´s that simple. I know you would love not to see that happen, but...Serbia will be part of the EU...whether and...I would say that it will be in it´s present borders.

let´s see what future brings, my dear albanian "Luke"! ;)

If the EU wants to send 1800 "policemen" to Kosovo, then Serbia should send 1800 "policemen" too. The EU move is against Resolution 1244 but Serbia's move would not be against it.

Hi Guida,

Serbs can't make Mladic and Karadzic part of the conditions. Remember the international communnity said that events in Kosovo and Bosnia are unrelated. Or are they just related when the concert of Europe want things to go a certain way? (LOL)

EU is bluffing and hopes Serbia is an idiot and will not notice. EU offers hot air. It is enough to see how EU play games with Turkey.

The fact is, EU needs Serbia, and they want to hide this fact.

How about this offer: EU to accept Serbia with Kosovo province as member or choose to have Russian missiles in the heart of EU instead?

Or, Serbia to become EU member and then EU decide to chop off part of EU territory and proclaim it independent.

Serbia has a better hand than EU, only has to keep poker face.

EA,

Interestingly enough, if you factor out the Kosovo and Mladic variables, Serbia already qualifies for EU status over other EU candidates, and even some newly acquired EU members. It's these two hangups that are stalling Serbia's path to Brussels, and with someone like Kostunica who is too proud to see anything other than his own version of reality, Serbia's road will continue to be stalled.

Kosovo has been, is and will allways be a part of Serbia. If it is now inhabitated by albanians is just because Albania was to poor.. so they migrated to a better place..South Serbia!!
Serbia should SERIOUSLY consider forming PART of the RUSSIAN FEDERATION.. Its no joke.. I think that with the actual Political leaders of the EU ..Capable of Deciding to DEMEMBRATE a SOVEREING STATE like BUSH attacking IRAK...SERBS would be FAR BETTER OFF.. specially with some one like PUTIN at the head..

Balkan people beware. The concert of Europe is back in session.

Serbia will join the EU when it's properly ready, not with strings attached. As the German chancellor said "Serbia is the lynchpin of the region".

Who cares about EU membership? I personally would want nothing to do with an organization that acts as a puppet to American lobby groups, threatens and blackmails Serbia, and tries to illegally amputate 15% of Serbia's territory. They have lost all morality. They want to reward ethnic cleansing by albanians of Kosovo's Serbian population. Hats off to the EU members who are against this criminal act. However, the best choice for Serbia is to be unaligned. We will be Russia's preferred trading partner in Europe, and we will be free and independent. That is the path Serbia should take.

Delije

Entry of Serbia to the EU the second Kosovo becomes independent & a big fat check. Thats the only offer Serbia should even consider. Lets see how bad the EU wants Kosovo independent. No recognition no independence. 1244 baby! Whats in your wallet?

NO shortcuts to European Union for Serbia even if she agrees to Kosova independece. The issues of European Union and Kosova are two separate issue. The European Union is linked with the political and economical reforms in the country, handover of war criminals, results in fight against the corruption, good relations with neighbourghs etc. etc....So Serbia should not have any elusion of a fast track even if it recognises Kosova's independence. Peace to all!

Whyomar

pre 16 godina

Mixing the EU issue and Kosovo is, in my opinion not the right approach to either case. Whether EU is the best way forward for Serbia or not should be decided separately, an whatever the decision, it will not function optimally unless the people of Serbia are committed to it, something which will probably not happen if it is tied to the question of Kosovan status.
On the Kosovo issue I think that the last thing Serbia needs is a new "Northern Ireland" on its hands. In the Ulster crisis, a mere 40% of the country wished to break away from Britain, while 60% were as clear and as determined that they did not want to be part of Southern Ireland, as many Serbs seem to be determined not to let Kosovo go. Northern Ireland became a 25-year-long headache for the British, and a bottomless money-pit. The prospects for Kosovo, with its 90% Albanian population can surely not be better.
So, even though Serbia may legally have the right to hold on to Kosovo, will it be WISE?

Just like the Serbian posters said about the Albanians should accept the autonomy offer as it was the best they would get. The Serbian govt should accept the EU generous offer or they will forever live in poverty under Soviet domination.M

EU cannot agree on anything. In one moment they send message that Serbia should join EU as soon as possible and in second moment they blackmail Serbia. Well, whatever EU decides(and clearly cannot decide or agree on anything) Serbia will just reject all EU's offers. First of all Serbia wont give up from its part of the counrty in the favour of joining EU and the second thing is that Serbia should never extradite not a one suspect for alleged war crimes any longer since the Court in Hague turned into the real circus after yesterday's approval on Haradinaj's temporal release. I mean the EU's officials are really funny if they think that they are in position to continue with blackmails since Serbia holds the key on Kosovo independence. Without that key everything is worthless, everything is illegal, everything is mess. Long live Serbia!!!!
