i stayed at hotel putnik in novi sad way back in yr 1999, in december. it was a bit of a scary time, back then, w the "white-knuckle" mini-bus ride fr budapest... milosevic was still in power, the nato bombing was NOt ancient history, sanctions were still in place. govt tv propaganda was still in high profile, the whole scenario was more than a bit surreal. nonetheless, the people at hotel putnik were very frndly and helpful, even if the hotel wasn't exactly in its tip top shape.
