I can not believe how much nonsense someone can read here in B92 comments.

There goes Olf debating and telling someone who he is.

Let us all remind of Serbian history. Serbia was independent country before Albania. They fought for independence for centuries. First Serbian country was established in the medieval times and after turkish rule of couple of centuries they became fully recognized country in the late 19th century.
So telling serbs that they are yugoslavs and pointing them to read passports is ignorant and kind of strange.

Well I for one was born in Yugoslavia but on my birth certificate it says I am of slovenian nationality. Every person born in Yugoslavia had nationality written on birth cerificate. And it was no Yugoslav for sure !

Bob,
all that you wrotte is UNTRUE.
You should not worry of Kosova/o economy since US Albanians (very well connected), will invest and stier other investments from the US to Kosova/o.
I pay US taxes and do not mind a bit that US Government spent on Kosova/o, either training KLA or investing in creating a new government.
Kosova/o has an economy, it also had it until everything was stolen by Serbian paramilitaries and what not.

Robert, don't worry of Serbian tax money, worry about your own. speaking of wasted tax money, EU states, Canada and U.S. wasted over $20B to train and provide air support to Albanian terrorists in 1999, and poured more than $10 B after June 10 in Kosovo money pit ruled by EU cleptocrats and Albanian terrorists turned politicians and businessmen.
All this money was poured into the region of 4000sq. mi and population less than 2M. Result? No economy, no legitimate business, not even regular electricity in Kosovo today.

The only thing that succed is human trafficking and narcotics production, refinement and export.

That's what I call a waste
of tax money.

There is also another example of wasted money,
money Albanians wasted on lining the pockets of corrupt U.S. Senators and Congresmen.

They will not deliver as promissed. As Alban Kurti succintly said, Bush lies to Albanians.

Kosova belongs to the people who live there. Simple as that. If we go back in history, I would say that Kosova (Dardania) belongs to Italy. Remember Rome? Exactly! You're welcome! Anyway, it looks good to see you spend your money this way. Keep it up!

What a joke. Good old Milosevice propaganda is back. What a waste of tax money.
(robert, 6 December 2007 11:25)

To robert - the only tax money that is being wasted is the money that the albanians are getting from Beograd. They continue to stone, bomb, desecrate & protest for something that isn't nor was ever theirs - KOSOVO!

My question is: have you ever read 1244? I can bet you did not, as if you really did you would know that this resolution is not mentioning Kosova as Serbian territory, but as an integral part of FRY (Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) that does not even exist any longer.

I'm actually happy that there is a B92. I always wanted to know the other point of view in an easily accessible, professional Serbian website. There is an equivalent in Serbian of this site but that one iève seen only once because of the language barrier.
I don't find B92 Albanian at all, are you kidding me?
The fact that many Albanians read it, shows that Albanians want to communicate with Serbs.

About the posters, they look to me like the ones with the US flag in the background we had in Tirana when Bush came plus some cheese lines in them. How do people there feel when they see the Us flag? Hopefully this will bring them closer to the west, even though the quotes are out of context.

Gunar Knob

pre 16 godina

How dare they? Kosovo is Serbia? What an audacity!
They are expected to say “Kosovo is Albania” or “Kosovo is USA”…
Joke aside – they are stating what is written in 1244 as endorsed by UN.
Who has a problem with that statement, anyhow?

Sasa

pre 16 godina

Kosovo is a mistake of Serbia!

Did anybody ask a question how it came to this situation in which a part of Serbia is populated by 90% of Albanians? I wonder if that is not a smart action of our politicians over the years. Does that plan of stimulating more than 3 children in a family, by giving them benefits, still works? I lived in Serbia for 25 years and still don't know a single Serbian family that has more than 3 children born after The Second World War. Instead of imposing strong taxes on more than 3 children, we give benefits! Just continue as before and in a couple of generations Serbs are going to be minority is Serbia as well.

I'm sorry to say this, but Serbia has already lost Kosovo and is in grave danger of loosing Serbia as well.

And to these Albanians who show up here to claim that Kosovo is theirs, yes it is. But not because you have any right to take someone else's property, because you stoled it. If you don't like to live in Serbia so much why did you (or your parents) come to live their?

I would give you Kosovo, and Serbia should never recognize it, stop trade and any other relations with Albanians in Kosovo, and let them enjoy thier independence. I was in Belgrade this summer, and they have no chance of ever living like people in Belgrade. If Albania is their dream, let them have it. I met a lot of people around the World, and still met nobody who ever was thier or ever wants to go there.

We should never allow anybody with their documents to cross our border. Do we really want the cradle of mafia and criminal in the inner Serbia?

Also, the Government should learn a lesson quickly and not give Serbian documents to Albanians in Kosovo. Or one day Serbs will be minority in Belgrade too.

BTW, could you post the exact statements by the World leaders that appeared on the posters?

Olf

Olf

They have realized that they not are dealing with the issues that are priority for majority of Serbian population They have deal with issue that concerns ex Yugoslavs like Princip, Jovan, Cvele, bmrusila, as well as with the concerns of foreigners like Kate, Mike, Roni, Pyrros and of the Russians=> minority in Serbia.
This campaign tells that Serbian government has realized that majority people care no less about Kosova and they are asking for more support.
Serbian government supporters in minority, failed politicians that you support are coming up with this campaign which will work against them. If people feel that Kosova is Serbia there would be no need for such posters. People are tired of Milosevic, they do not want another one.
Kosova belong to people of Kosova period. Leave away the fiction. Don’t believe on myths. Believing on myth like” Kosova is Serbia” time has passed and gone with Milosevic. Join the Serbian people in Serbia and think about the future not about the past.

It is a shame! Welcome back in state propaganda! This is for me called manipulation of public opinion! If government is so sure Serbia is Kosovo, they should need to remind that to the population through billboard! Do you think that is a normal thing to do for a state???

“points to the similarity between the challenges Serbia is faced with today and reaffirms the political values and democratic standards that western civilization is founded on.“
Sharing western democratic standards and civilization bases??? There are many western cultures first of all! All over Europe also there is fight between nationalism and intercultural movements, those that stayed stuck in nation based conception of the world and those believing in intercultural peaceful cooperation and in project like EU construction.

For me Serbia sharing actual western culture would mainly mean that this government would have clear statement against any violent reaction to actual Kosovo talk and would support free citizen expression, human and minority rights, and self-determination of peoples… Actual challenge for Serbia is to stop looking only to his history! Forget Kosovo Polje and start thinking about future! If K. Albanians want their independence just gives it to them, build peaceful neighborhood relationships and fight for better life for Serbian people. Please refuse such kind of brainwashing propaganda and don’t forget that Serbian culture and people are more than just Kosovo land!

Best regards from Belgrade!

Kosovo is NOT Serbia

How can he say something like this? 93 % of the population is Albanians. 95 % of the capital is Albanian owned. Albanians has absolute majority in every city, except these small cities in the north.

Milosevic reincarnation Kostunica has given order to his ministries to mobilize for war and this warmongering attitude encouraged by Serb authorities should be condemned and punished by the whole world.

In the 90’s Middle East had Saddam , while Balkans had Milosveic. Now Middle East has Ahmadinjead, and Balkans Kostunica.

If Italy was to claim all the lands where it built churches during the Roman Empire, Russia wouldn't be the biggest country in the world map anymore.

This campaign is nothing else but a big provocation aimed at the newest European State of Kosova that is emerging right on your border. It gives more poisonous lies to Serbian people who surprisingly can still take it. Also, it distances Serbia itself even further from the West which has already at least verbally, concluded the result of Kosova Independence. This desperate move will only enter in the accounting books as an unecessary "waste of money". This "show of emotions" reminds all of us non-Serbs of Balkans, of Slobodan Milosevic's rising in politics. Maybe another Slobo is rising again...

Gezim

pre 16 godina

Well, when justice and international law are concerned, I think the Serb officials should tell their public also the following:

1. Kosova was taken with war in 1912 from Turks
2. Kosova was a constituive part of Former Yugoslavia, based on the contsitution of 1974, with direct federal presentation.
3. The autonomy was revoked and there is no guarantee of anykind that it won't be revoked again, if Kosova was about to accept that and if NATO troops won't stay standby to attack if needed.
4. The Western Values are dictating to Serbia that the 2 million people of Kosova, three times more than montenegrons, as much as Slovenians, as much as Macedonians and Bosnians, ought to have the right for self-determination, as a fundamental principle for peace, justice and democracy in the world.

Eventually, I think people should understand that Serbian Government is wasting time and resources on a lost cause, it would better have to invest that money to improve the health, the conditions and care of people with disabilities in Serbia for example.

Kosova Ministry, WHO is that?
Anyway they forgat to include on those billboards the military operation " Horse shoe" designed to expell all Albanians from Kosova and murders and pillaging all over Kosova where Albanians resided.
Good job phantom ministry.

This campaign tells that the present corrupt government of Serbia is in deep crisis.

Well, I've also made my own comparison regarding Serbian mythology.

If Italy was to claim all the lands where it built churches during the Roman Empire, Russia wouldn't be the biggest country in the world map anymore.

This ministry is becoming a laughing stock. Its very own existence is very indicative of how irrelevant and out of touch Belgrade policy has been throughout this period.
Messages keep coming in from different corners of the land and Mr Samardic still has the audacity to launch a campaign under slogan “Kosovo is Serbia”.
Now where have I heard that before?

Why doesnt this Kosova Mininstry take a look at Kosova and see how Serbian it really is! Wont suprise me of the buss who was attacked had the same slogo, if So.. then its normal why ppl reacted that way. Its like taking a buss to Presheva valley with the slogan "Presheva valley is Albanian" and think nothing will happen

Gunar Knob you said:
“they are stating what is written in 1244 as endorsed by UN.”

My question is: have you ever read 1244? I can bet you did not, as if you really did you would know that this resolution is not mentioning Kosova as Serbian territory, but as an integral part of FRY (Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) that does not even exist any longer.

Kosova belongs to the people who live there. Simple as that. If we go back in history, I would say that Kosova (Dardania) belongs to Italy. Remember Rome? Exactly! You're welcome! Anyway, it looks good to see you spend your money this way. Keep it up!

Chris: "Welcome back in state propaganda!"

Please! The propaganda machine adopted by Nato and some of its members outdid Goebbels, so I hardly think that a PR drive about keeping Kosovo is that extreme or unexpected.

By the way, Chris and Mark Green, you may be another nationality but please don't try and act as though English is your first language or that you are English. I am English and it's bad enough having a fradulent government to deal with!

Sasha,

i always knew that b92 is albanian media... look at the audiences... my god
(sasha, 6 December 2007 14:49)

I have always been a Serb, in all Yugoslavias I have been a Serbs regardless what it has been written in passports. I guess it usless to tell you about Serbian long history.

As for the ex colonialist in these pistures, I guess Serbs wanted to please Albanians since we know how much respects you have for USA, Germany and all the superpowers. One Slovakia is so insinificant for Albanians, let alone Serbs, so why to bother.

all that you wrotte is UNTRUE.

I love this campaign. This is brilliant. Check out one of the Belgrade posters in this link.http://www.novosti.co.yu/code/navigate.php?Id=2&dan=4&mesec=12&godina=2007

It shows Winston Churchill, and for those who can not read cyrillic, he is quoted saying 'We will defend what is ours. We will never surrender!' Underneath it says in large letters 'Kosovo is Serbia'.
Very appropriate indeed, with the current Kosovo situation. Well done! Here ar the rest.

How dare they? Kosovo is Serbia? What an audacity!
They are expected to say “Kosovo is Albania” or “Kosovo is USA”…
Joke aside – they are stating what is written in 1244 as endorsed by UN.
Who has a problem with that statement, anyhow?

Bob Petrovich

pre 16 godina

Truth ?
