Violation of 1244 would give Serbia the right to withdraw from all its terms.

It would only be international force that could then maintain Kosovo's status. Don't blame Serbia for any of its political reactions after that.

I would prefer a proper agreement between the parties. Strong autonomy is a very good deal based on agreement and leaves the way open to a good future. Without agreement, the province will always be a point of contention if it calls itself a country.

If independence is declared by the Albanians who live in Kosovo, I assume that some of the Serbian areas will declare independence from the Albanian rulers. It would be very wrong of NATO to insist that these people be governed by Albanians - after all, these are Serbs living in Serbia.

Partition is the next thing that NATO will try to prevent - in order to ensure that the land can be governed by Albanians I assume!

Very strange.

"NATO says that the complicated and tense situation in Serbia is affecting their mutual relations." Let me see first they bomb (by the way I live in the largest NATO country) then they rule as de facto and now relationships are affected because Serbia will not be bulldozed over. What a relationship! One does everything, while the other is expected to say yes sir, thank you very much for your pain and grief!

We have tolerated Serbia's bad attitude for too long. It is the time now to let Serbia know we (the wester nations) will no longer tolerate and drastic measures would be taken.

Same old anti-Serb lyrics just a different tune.

Your dangerous concept of collective guilt shows in your own words as follows..
…"There are very few Serbs on this forum who are compassionate and remorseful."
“IT WOULD HELP TO CHANGE the negative image we have of you all.”
"Serbs know nothing of justice"
”tarnished the image of the nation and of all Serbs"
and you even claimed, Victor, that Serbs were Orthodox but not Christian.

So Victor (André, Kébec, Kanada, Mensa, Arthur, Julien, Laurent or Apostrophe) what are these drastic measures?

It is you who has the bad attitude.

Ok so he was asked Asked whether NATO, with Resolution 1244 as the basis for remaining in Kosovo, “is prepared to implement the resolution when Serbia’s sovereignty over Kosovo is in question,” and then he was asked asked how KFOR would react to a potential proclamation of independence and the subsequent violation of Resolution 1244, and he answered two diffrent questions with the same general non specific “NATO will, in the case of a unilateral proclamation of Kosovo independence, view the resolution as a basis for remaining in the province.”
The empire plays these word games but what he is saying is resolution 1244 is the basis they are occupying Kosovo-Metohija yet they will violate 1244 by demanding independence and then when 1244 is broken they will continue to occupy Kosovo breaking UN and NATO laws along 1244.Let us remember that resolutions and laws DO NOT MATTER at all because one law supersedes all of them and that is might makes right. The nerve of NATO to say they are getting "bad vides" well you bombed the hell out of Serbia and now you are occupying and trying to take a large chunck of territory and reward terrorists with it
Washington would be giving out bad vibes too if a foreign power took over Texas lets say.The reason the army is workig with NATO is becuase they have no choice they need to protect the border so the terrorists do not try things like this again http://www.csees.net/?page=news&news_id=64519&country_id=8.

What 'bad attitude' have you tolerated, Victor? Is that as a Croatian, because it would seem that this may affect your view slightly. Is Croatia a 'Western' nation?

The only 'attitude' from Serbia at the moment is one of refusing to be bullied into losing territory. And they seem to be doing a pretty good job.

The danger could come from the radicals if this charade goes on much longer. A feeling of isolation and a threat to territory could make fertile ground for radicals, as always happens everywhere.

Actually, "we, the Western nations" are not prepared to just ignore international law.

Read Mike's very good comment on this thread which summarises this perfectly.

UN Resolution 1244 is a package deal. You accept all of it, or you accept none of it. If NATO wants to use 1244 as the legitimate basis for its continued stay in the province, 1244 must also be used as the legitimate basis for retaining Kosovo in Serbia's territory. If the usual NATO suspects are bent on recognizing Kosovo's independence one way or the other, then 1244 is null and void. Should NATO and KFOR continue to be stationed there, there would require a new UN Resolution to override 1244. And the only way to do that would be through the Security Council.

You can either have cake, or you can eat it. You can't have both. Line-item vetoes are not allowed.

Princip - It is interesting, because if certain countries do support independence, then what status will their troops have?

They will be in Kosovo under a UN mandate which is directly opposed to any recognition of independence.

Therefore they could not represent their own governments at the same time. They would legally become occupiers.

This headline 'NATO receiving bad vibes from Serbia' is just a classic! Like they have only just noticed!

Princip, UK

"Asked whether NATO, with Resolution 1244 as the basis for remaining in Kosovo, “is prepared to implement the resolution when Serbia’s sovereignty over Kosovo is in question,” he replied that “NATO sees this resolution as the legal basis for remaining in Kosovo and expects NATO foreign ministers to confirm it as such.”

Asked how KFOR would react to a potential proclamation of independence and the subsequent violation of Resolution 1244, he said that “NATO will, in the case of a unilateral proclamation of Kosovo independence, view the resolution as a basis for remaining in the province.” "

- then I guess what this means is the US and a "few" EU states cannot act illegally and violate UN Resolution 1244 by illegally recognising an illegal declaration without removing their legal basis for NATO's prescence - seeing as they expect to continue their prescence in Serbia's province of Kosovo & Metohija it follows that the individual nations of NATO to not act illegaly and violate the very leaglity for their troop prescence.

Oh what a tangle web we weave......

Let me see: bomb the hell out of them, support, both militarily and logistically, any neighboring nation willing to take an aim at them, sponsor any group of terrorists willing to carve out a piece of territory from them, ensure you do absolutely nothing while them being attacked and property burned under your watch, tell them you plan for them is based on the idea they will “die out anyhow” … and they are STILL not warming up to you?!
How odd!

I do not understand the way the moderation is applied.

Years of sanctions, 78 days of bombing of 8 million people for the selfish cause of 2 million & a rent free bondsteel. The destruction of 150+ medieval & modern churches & ethnic cleansing of Serbs & other non-Albanians under the watchfull eye of nato. The illeagel attempt to steel Serbian land, Kosovo. Not to mention the raicist attitude toward Serbs around the world. So bad vibes isn't that bad. & all this is a drop in the bucket for us. We'v been through worse throughout our rich history. We are Serbs & have been here for centuries & will be here for centuries to come with or w/o Kosovo. You can't exterminate us & we'll never go away. Long live Serbia and the Serbian people!

I have already answered this question twice in this month. Funny you did not make a copy!

I am sure you will find the measures I have listed and sent to our governement, to NATO and a few european governments.

So this means for us that are not very smart and able to play games. so if there is a violation UN 1244 that means KFOR must depart Kosovo? If they are using this resolution as a basis for being deployed to Kosovo. I am sure we will have alot of colourful responses.

kate

Princip - It is interesting, because if certain countries do support independence, then what status will their troops have?

They will be in Kosovo under a UN mandate which is directly opposed to any recognition of independence.

Therefore they could not represent their own governments at the same time. They would legally become occupiers.

This headline 'NATO receiving bad vibes from Serbia' is just a classic! Like they have only just noticed!

vibes vs bombs

pre 16 godina

If NATO receives bad vibes from Serbia, Serbia on the other hand received many bad depleted uranium bombs from NATO. No NATO in Serbia thus makes a lot of sense.

His answer shortly says: 1244 or 1255, we are not gonna let Serbia come back to Kosova! Is it so hard for you to understand this man?

Cean cut.

We are gonna come back to Kosovo even if it takes another 500 years just ask the Turks. No one will make us forget about Kosovo, not the west nor the rest.

Imenjak (name alike: slavko),

That's what should have been said in the early 1990s, but Serbs allowed western journalists into the country, which allowed them to film parallel situations with Serb victims in the west.

Victor: "We have tolerated Serbia's bad attitude for too long. It is the time now to let Serbia know we (the wester nations) will no longer tolerate and drastic measures would be taken."

We will not be force to sing anything or compel to pressure.

What do you suggest Victor, should we get bomb again if we do not give in because we are trying to protect are land.

You’re statements sound more and more like leaders of nations that attacked Serbia in a barbarian fashion.( Ottaman Empire, Austrian-Hungarian empire, Nazi Germany)

don´t worry, this time it won´t last that long.

"clean cut": also, don´t worry, if NATO-troops take care together with serbian troops, all will be fine.
but even if NATO soldiers take care of Serbia´s borders in the south in behalf of the serbian state, you will have to accept it. and UNSC 1244 is, despite of that wishful-thinking in your nonsense-papers down there in the serbian province... still in effect.
