I come from a family that was persecuted by the Albanian government for political reasons. We never supported the communist regime nor ever worked for it.

To suggest that the politically persecuted families worked for the Albanian government before they were imprisoned is utter ignorance.

Not all Albanians were persecuted. Muslims were not. But Roman Catholics were.

To think that the current Albanian government would compensate the families that were persecuted by them for over 60 years is a joke.

Albania has been ruled by communists since the early 1940's and continues to be ruled by them to date.

Do some research on who rules Albania today and you will find that all the leaders were either members of the CP (see Berisha, Nano, etc.,) or their parents were with the CP.

Ramiz Alia instructed the Polituro in 1989 that the communist class should turn into the capitalist class and make sure that the politically persecuted families do not return to power because they would make us they servants (see the speech of Alia in October 1989 in front of the Politburo)

Serb Camp claims that Albanians from Albania fleed to Kosova and then all of a sudden they multiplied to outnumbers Serbs today 17:1; even though still to this day no proof can be found. What Serb Camp lacks is history, history tells us that Albania under communism kept all its' borders closed and those caught fleeing the country were BURIED ALIVE. Which means, no ALBANIANS came to Kosova; well a few, but 99% of them (Kosovars) were here since day 1.

Whatever the motive this is good news for the common people that suffered.A stronger Albanian economy in the future would benefit the region as a whole since most illegal immigrants in Kosovo,FYROM SE Serbia and Greece left Albania becuase of socioeconomic reasons.Where did the money come from?

Although these people deserve some compensation the way it is being done is not right. First of all they are never gonna receive anything because the law is so complicated that they will have to wait for years before seeing anything so the discussion is purely theoretical. But the problem is that they are granted huge sums of money and the bill for any payments that will eventually be paid is to be footed mostly by me and others like me, i.e. people who did not end up in jail during Communism but did not benefit from it either. Is that right?
Many of these people after all the were high officials of the state before ending up in jail and becoming "dissidents".

Nothing can compensate for what people have gone through the terrible years of communism. The long wait only helps the ex commies to gain further control of the Albanian economy.
