Ida,

Thanks for the link to the Christian Science Monitor article. They did not include Chief Bill Blair's comments on this incident from an interview CBC did with the police chief. He would have commented fully if he had much more information; however, he did describe a process to solving problems. I have provided the link here titled "A DEADLY LANDING" http://www.cbc.ca/national/blog/special_feature/a_deadly_landing/bill_blair_interview.html

Peter,

You know well that for years justice has not been served in Serbia as regard to war criminals who have nothing to fear from the Ministry of Justice. They will never be bothered by the judicial system, and many young Serbs know this, and they bbehave accordlingly.

This has nothing to do with policemen who at times have to use the taser with dangerous individuals who refuse to respect the law... which is the same for all Canadians.

In Serbia, unfortunately, it seems that justice is not the same for alleged war criminals and ordinary Serbs.

"Such events show us clearly that Serbia is still a dangerous country, a country without laws, where security and justice are two ignored realities.

Does that mean that England, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and just about every other country in Europe are dangerous countries without respect for law, security and justice are nonexistent because of the actions of some stupid football hooligans?

"Victor", or should I say André Riendeau, did you hear of the Polish immigrant killed with a Taser at Vancouver Airport recently? I think it shows Canadian police are deadly to innocent travellers:

TASER DEATH IN CANADA SPARKS HEATED DEBATE AROUND THE WORLD

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/1203/p99s01-duts.html

The death of a Polish man at Vancouver International Airport has sparked an intense debate in Canada over the increasing use of Tasers by law-enforcement officials. Concerns over the use of these electric shock guns has mounted in several other countries after a UN Committee on Human Rights recently labeled their impact "torture."

Victor, as a regular reader of your comments I am aware of your position concerning Serbia.
It is your right to voice that opion, naturally. But in this case there is absolutely no relevance. No connection. The fact that hooligans exist has zero connection between the situation in a state/country. If tomorrow some icehockey 'fans' in Canada smash up a few cars, would that say anything about Canada? No.

I think you should try to limit your opinion about the political situation to those topics where politics are relevant. And those topics are never hard to find on B92 ;-)

As a stranger to your country, I notice that many Serbs, suspected as war criminals, have not been sued for the crimes they have committed during the war in Bosnia and Croatia, and this sends a bad signal to young Serbs, as if they are above justice.

Serbia should have put under arrest all the alleged war criminals, and send a signal that justice is important, and nobody is above the law.

I know that at times such incidents also happen in France, Italy or other countries, but it does not change my conclusion because of the premises hebind my assertion.

Victor, although you are entitled to have your own opinion, I think that to base your conclusion about the safety of Serbia on an act of footbal-hooliganism is ridiculous. In that way, England, Italy, France, The Netherlands and several other countries should be very dangerous. Because they've all seen (even worse - namely deadly!) cases of football-related violence.
It think it is good to have people like you following Serbia critically.
But there is a fine line between rightfull criticism and outrageous unfounded conclusions. With this comment you find yourself on the wrong side of that line.
