All eight federal units had the VETO right. So no decision could be taken or no law could be passed in the federal parliament without the CONSENT of all eight federal units.

The autonomy (without the VETO right) within Serbia that Serbia is offering Kosova(o) is less than what Kosova(o) already had within the Yugoslav Federation before Mr Milosević revoked by force in 1998. Today Kosova is run jointly by UNMIK and PISG (Kosova(o) Provisional Institutions of Self-Government). So why would Kosovars want/accept to be reintegrated into Serbia and ruled again by Serbia’s authorities, where it is exactly those authorities that deported more than half of the Kosova’s population just eight years ago? True, both Serbs and Albanians conducted bad deeds and perpetrators from both sides must be judged before courts, but nowadays the choice for the future is Kosova’s and not Serbia’s.

HISTORICAL: Albanians say they are descendants of Illyrians (tribes who lived in the territory of the whole former Yugoslavia) are indigenous people of Kosova(o) and they have been living there forever. Serbs say Kosovo was the birthplace of the one of the first Serb Kingdoms (in the 13-14th century), and it represents the cradle of their national identity.

There must be a bit of truth in the claim of the both sides, but today we are living in a different reality and (hopefully) in a more civilised world. Reality on the ground is the decisive argument over the claim over Kosova(o)…. My true wish is that both Albanians and Serbs need to get along with each other and live in harmony be it in the same state or in two separate states. As it seems today it is more realistic to expect that they will live in two separate states.

ladies and gents if something happens only once in a lifetime it will stay once in a lifetime. if it happens twice it will undoubtedly happen again and again. I lived in Prishtina and I was exposed to the unjust Serbian treatment...Yes my school was closed down by Serbians and we had to setup private clases at students houses. Yes my parents were fired from work just like all other Albanians.

It was a mistake to give them that much autonomy in the first place. No other country in the world has done that and never will.

Now Eruope is repating the same mistake that Serbia made. Giving Albanians anything just because they threaten violence.

Let them be violent. There isn't enough to make a difference. Today Serbia, tomorrow Macedonia, Montenegro, Greece and who knows what next.
With such an appauling history of minority treatment they are not in a position to join Europe.

What are you talking about? Why are you spreading propaganda?? When Serb police was sent in - they were sent to restore order in KiM because of albanian seperatists.

The albanians had schools in albanian, radio stations, tv stations etc... they had everything. They were free to do anything. They had more freedom than in america. But no that wasn't enough because they wanted to steal the whole Serbian province.
