Cvele, why would the K Albanians accept temporary limited autonomy when the can have independence recognised by America and the majority of the EU countries?

This declariation of independence will come, whether legal or illegal, so Serbia had better except that.

Some of your Serbian posters always say that the Serbian side is very flexable in tis approach, to be honest I don't think either side has budged from it's original posistions, ie, the Albanian side Independence and the Serbian side Kosovo remaining within Serbian borders. By giving Kosovo Albanians autonomy it is only giving them freedom to wrack up debts which Serbia will never have to pay, and to allow Serb forces to roam Kosovo, while the Albanian population is disarmed, because Serbia controls Kosovo's borders.

Miri, zou seriously think that Russia will accept independent Kosovo at some stage???

If Serbia agrees to partition then they will accept what's left of it but no other way.

How many times do they have to say a firm NO for you to accept it?

opening jobs?

yeah if the population grows it will just slowly decay

there is no benefit to ANY resident in southern Serbia for Kosovo independence you guys will be on our own and have to find the 70% of resources that we will take away

Of course not. After the Independence, the Kosova story will continue with its fast recognition and the growing of population and opening of new jobs and...creating a very strong state. It will be a very nice story to hear, you're right!

this is how i see this mess: west wanted to use kosovo to finally get rid of milosevic. so they set impossible terms for him in paris in 99 and deliberately pushed for war, not thinking about albanians at all but about how to get rid of milosevic. but the war was over, he was still there, not for long, true, then albanian were driving hundereds of thousands of serbs out and destroying their property. ok, that was not such a big deal, its only serbs, but: the lawlessness, oh the lawlessness of kosovo, former terrorists turned "policemen", of course west could not make kosovo independent there and then. soon, milo was gone, democratic government in belgrade, honeymoon. how can we break up serbia now, west thought. so they put it aside. couple of years ago they decide, lets do this once and for all. there's other stuff happening in the meantime, post 9/11 world, terrorism creeping through balkans, lets sort this. russia nowhere in sight, all is smooth. ahtisari with his negotiations "you are guilty as a nation", "supervised independence", all smooth. then all of a sudden, and i'm talking out of nowhere, russia. and the thing is turned on its head.
now russia wants to drag this until further notice. for when it needs it later. you know, when you freeze something, you keep it to use it later. that's russia's game.
i can imagine how bitterly sorry those in west who decided to finally sort out kosovo feel now. they cant back down and they cant move forward. whatever they do is bad for everyone.
albanians-tragic story. no doubt.
serbs- tragic also, but we are not trying to win independence are we. we lost kosovo completely, and now have our hands back on it, some of it definitely. so it's not so bad. it's better now than it was in november 2006.
i see a frozen conflict, and it takes no crystal ball. declaration of independence? sure. thats all it will be.

He is right it is not the end but it is a new beginning. No one doubts that for pro-Russian dictatorship block the Kosova independence would be “the worst solution”. But it is a new era for Balkans politics turned toward west and more democratic policies. There will be very few statues of Lenin, Stalin and other barbaric dictators standing on this planet.
Kosova is the ultimate test of EU success or failure.

If I was a Serb I would have expected more from Russia representative. Even Cyprus was more adamant to its position.
The bottom line is; in case of unilateral independence it will take some time for Russia to recognize Kosovo as an independence State, and that is understandable.

"That is why we are pushing further negotiations, in the aim to arrive at a compromise solution," Alekseyev said and added out he was "not ready to talk about a unilateral declaration of independence", as that would be "the worst solution".

Worst Solution! Take note. Accept autonomy. Its ur only answer. CCCC
