how come they ask now if some albanian is a democrat?
if they would ask this d-question all the time, you wouldn't have anything to write about, because in all ex-yu there are are no more than two democratic prime ministers.
this was never a useful category while discussing politics on the balkan, and it will not become one in the next 30 years!

If your wish comes true mark, then soon after the islamists move in & you to can watch as your "catholic" churches burn to the ground as ours did. Yes right now its all about being Albanian but that will boil down to religion. When you lose that common enemy the next thing is yourselves. Soon as it becomes independent your Albanian kin go from majority of Kosovo to the Albanian christian minority of Kosovo. Wish what you want but thats why my people fought many years ago and died to keep our faith alive. Good luck your kin may need it.

as an albanian catholic from the highlands southern montenegro no other group of people can relate to your struggle of maintaining both blood & faith then my particular region. small in numbers but out stature and hearts made up for the difference.

B92 and their foreign supporters can squawk all they like about Kosova because that's it means to be Democratic in Europe.
You do realize this squawking is the behavior of the loser who pines and sings and cries himself into deep descent into depression over the loss of something they always longed for but never quite had in reality and that is a 'cradle" in Kosova.
pre 16 godina
This was a completely pointless comment. I cannot see hot it relates in any way to what the real issues are. Just some unknown person ranting against Mr. Thaci and comparing him to Arafat. What's the point of this? Why does B92 post such un-professional pieces? My next door neighbor has an opinion too, why not publish an article on what he thinks as well?
pre 16 godina
There is no real "democrat" in the Balkans, because there is no real "democracy" in all the Balkan states, including Greece that has been an EU member for years. It's the historical backgrounds of all these nations that has not allowed the "luxury" of having "democrats" in their societies. For those interested, come back in 50 years, maybe you'll find one or two. This guy is just way too late to notice something that the rest of the civilized world has realized ages ago.

You are not the defenseless victims that you try to portray yourselves as. You instigated the war, not Serbia. And the main instigators were? Ceku and Thaci.
(PB, 28 November 2007 19:51)
this is utter nonsense and probably the funniest thing i've read all week long. i have no problem whatsoever w/either thaqi or ceku holding office. if these guys were guilty of something, they'd be in the hague. had they of even been suspect, they be there by now and you can look back at mr ramush haradinaj as a prime example because he's still there but, i suspect, not for long. he will soon be released because he too is innocent.
as for that quote, i too can spin-off some religious passage in order to prove a point and i'm both albanian & catholic.
it's not uncommon for those who are against kosove's freedom to use religious propoganda to scare or intimidate people. they've tried it in the past and it's failed. i'm sure this effort will meet the same fate.

Germany took a part of Czech territory before WWII . It was against the International Law, but nevertheless, some European countries recognize this unilateral move.
In 1945 Czech deported Sudet Germans and reclaimed their territory back.
Question:
1. Is Czech among those members of EU “willing” to endorse dismembering of Serbia?
2. How does that stuck up with their stand on Sudet Germans?
Or is it, again, : what's good for the goose MAY NOT be good for the gander.
Another “unique case”?
I applaud to Mr. Petr Uhl for his accurate and honest point of view – but it hardly matters. Unfortunately.
What does matter is the fact this issue is so explosive - I see no way of that EU "united front" being so much robust as they want make Serbs believe it. Time will tell.

"Where does B92 find these people"...“ancient Czech”.
How foolish you appear by your own words teni.
You certainly need to research the life and numerous accomplishments of Mr. Uhl before you attempt to personally attack and discredit him again.
Your comment clearly reflects your own immaturity, ignorance and lack of objectivity.
pre 16 godina
Mr Uhl is absolutely right. It is a joke to see Hasim Thaci being treated as a democratic politician and always was. He didn’t get his nickname for nothing.
The only reason that the US removed the KLA from its list of terrorists and became ‘friends’ was because they wanted to use them as their land army to avoid body bags being flown home.
There have been countless war crimes pinned on various Serbian groups and individuals. Belgrade has charged and made convictions in some of these cases, as has the ICTY, and there is a general acceptance that terrible atrocities did occur.
But when it comes to atrocities by the KLA 'freedom fighters', nobody on here or in many other places seems to accept that they carried out numerous inhumane activities. Why do none of the Albanian posters acknowledge this?
What about the raping of nuns, or the burning of monasteries, or the beating to death of 3 elderly people who took a wrong turning and ended up in the middle of the 'liberation' celebrations in 1999?
What about spraying children with bullets when they were swimming, or killing 14 farmers and going on the rampage in 2004? Are these to just be written off as rogue incidents?
I am perfectly aware that truly terrible things happened to Albanian people in Kosovo, and hope that in each of these cases the perpetrators face proper justice. As with all victims in the mind bendingly terrible wars in the Balkans.
But what about the terrible things that happened in Kosovo to Serbian people, or Roma, or those Albanians labelled as 'traitors'? Why is one terrible and one acceptable?
I have heard no word here about how terrible any of these crimes were, and yet every day there is a call for independence because of 'what happened in 1999'.
There is no acceptance of the criminality present, and a general fear among the Europeans that they are going to have to deal with the fall out.

Teni - I would be embarrased to try and say that Petr Uhl is not a worthy contributor to this debate.
pre 16 godina
To Teni and all the Albanians - The truth hurts doesn't it. You don't like it when the truth tarnishes your PR contrived "whiter than white" image. You are not the defenseless victims that you try to portray yourselves as. You instigated the war, not Serbia. And the main instigators were? Ceku and Thaci.
pre 16 godina
teni says,
"Where does B92 find these people"...“ancient Czech”.
How foolish you appear by your own words teni.
You certainly need to research the life and numerous accomplishments of Mr. Uhl before you attempt to personally attack and discredit him again.
Your comment clearly reflects your own immaturity, ignorance and lack of objectivity.
pre 16 godina
This article his the issue right on the nose. Tachi is a terrorist and should be treated as such.
pre 16 godina
Teni,
are you saying a leading Czech dissident of the communist period who has articles published in one of the leading Czech papers is not allowed his opinion? Why do you belittle his opinion - because he tells the it like it really is ?
You keep believing in the false promise and lets see what happens come the 11th December.
pre 16 godina
A renowned former Czech dissident named Petr Uhl said this?!?! That changes everything!!!
pre 16 godina
Regardless of this czech journalist writes, do you think he is wrong? I am not talking about independence, just asking you if you think Thaci is a true democrat?
If so I know another one who is a true democrat, Ratko Mladic!
pre 16 godina
miri, because of your tasteless comment about "russian prostitutes" ( which I cannot understand why it was published by the B92-censors )
I won´t argue with you anymore.
you should just feel ashamed.

If your wish comes true mark, then soon after the islamists move in & you to can watch as your "catholic" churches burn to the ground as ours did. Yes right now its all about being Albanian but that will boil down to religion. When you lose that common enemy the next thing is yourselves. Look @ Iraq same people diffrent religions fighting for power & killing each other as they go along. Soon as it becomes independent your Albanian kin go from majority of Kosovo to the Albanian christian minority of Kosovo. Wish what you want but thats why my people fought many years ago and died to keep our faith alive. Good luck your kin may need it.

thank you for the moral support but i think we'll be fine. kosove is not bosnia and albanians, when ruling themselves, have never had a history of violence w/one other over faith. we have w/non-albanians such as serbs, montengrians, macedonians and greeks but not other albanians.
as an albanian catholic from the highlands southern montenegro no other group of people can relate to your struggle of maintaining both blood & faith then my particular region. small in numbers but out stature and hearts made up for the difference.

This is just a reminder that truth is always swimming around the top somewhere, and it is naive to think that west doe`s not know about this,Oh yeah they do,and they`ll use it when apropriate. We shall wait and see..!!

Princip,
honestly, who cares what a hurt albanian kid thinks about this man?
those who read real papers, not koha ditore or other yellow-press... will know what they have to think about him.
and to teni personally:
just because you never heard of him, doesn´t mean that he is a "nobody"...
it´s more the opposite, the fact that you never heard of him...is interesting.

It doesn't matter what any paper says - facts are facts! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashim_Tha%C3%A7i
For all the albanians who think this is "propaganda" & false, you do realize that you have the opportunity to update this site, so correct it before you start your ridiculous posts & excuses!!

Czech is still living on the past, nobody wants to live as a slave,my people want to learn history of albanian heroes not about car lazar.its over world knows about it all ready, and its realy shame what serbian goverment doing now, no one wants to give up their home and live under somebodys foot,no one wants to give up their mother tounge and be forced to speak serbian and russian, this message is for serbian people, because I know that a lot of serbian people dont even care about Kosovo they have their lifes, they live on peace, they dont want no political lesson.

if thaci is guilty of crimes, then legal processes need to follow, and we have the legal means to do this. meanwhile, i am asTOUNded that my fellow posters here are such supporters or international law and human rights. uhh, where is ratko mladic and who is "hiding" him? and what are you doing to promote justice for the victims of mladic? oh, i thought so.
pre 16 godina
Well, first message goes to Mark:you are my hero, he is right because albanians are one, they live together no matter what religion they have, they never had problems, because they are same blood, church and mask will be up and runing all ways in Kosovo.Kosovo should be free country, this will be the best solution for everybody even for serbians, because its time to move forward for ballkans, look were you are now,(nowhere.I also have message for young boy from Djibouti and for others as well if you not familiar with situation in ballkans (Kosovo) dont send a comment.I have message for Mr.PB too: Truth hurts its a fact, but question is who( not albanians) thats for sure.
