Kasparov got 5 days in jail for trying to disrupt the street traffic in Moscow (for marching, not for protesting), and it did not look that he was beaten up. This new status of a political prisoner should really help his fundraising efforts in the US -- he might even afford the second apartment in Manhattan. He must be really brilliant because he is managing to raise funds for political activity in Russia, being an ethnic Azarbaijani.

You have any proof for those accusations? It sounds highly unlikely. I suppose next you will say that Russian special services staged Beslan as well?

What actually happened is this: Chechnya declared independence in 1991, Yelsin sent in troops to pacify the region, failed to do so and withdrew, Putin took power, the Ichkeria regime furious that the new Putin government didn't recognize their sovereignty staged terrorist attacks and supported the Dagestan uprising, Putin responded by crushing the Dagestan rebellion, toppling the Ichkeria regime in Chechnya, killing prominent Ichkeria leaders, planting a pro-Moscow regime, now Chechnya is more or less at peace, save for sporadic attacks.

His forces did terrible things in the process by levelling whole cities and villages, yes, but to say that he staged the bombings in Moscow is just nonsense.

We Poles hear the same nonsense form German nationalists, that they attacked Poland to protect their "mistreated" German minority and because we attacked some radio station ove the German border. Same lies, different times.

The Albanians response on here when they hear truth is common and it goes like this
RUSSIA/SERBIA-Kosovo is a hotbed of international terrorism-Taking Kosovo will cause problems for the region.
ALBANIANS/NATO-Well Srbija did this and Russia did that.
Why not talk about the issue at hand instead of deflecting
it back.Yes Srbija and Russia are not perfect but the issue is Kosovo-Metohija cannot be taken from Srbija it is Srbija and has always been.If Kosovo was Albanian land and Serbs were trying to
ethnically cleanse the people out and destroy churches I would oppose it with the same passion. No matter what it is NEVER going to be morally, ethically or legally justified to take it away from Srbija.NATO does not follow any law but might makes right.

Putin should think before he talks and acts as a the worst kind of hypocrite. Yelsen gave Chechnya its freedom with drew all of Moscow troops. Putin rose to power on the greater Russia military retric. Even set up bombing of Russian flats by his friends in the FSB where he was an officer also formerly known as the KGB. When the flats were bombed there was a large loss of life Putin made sure to say the Chechen's did it blame them. On that pretense Putin sent the military to flatten Chechen towns and commit hole sale murder. But how was caught but Putin's FSB agents were caught red handed planting bombs in a basement of a flat they were caught by the civil police. Putin has lost all moral ground is only steering up trouble elsewhere to deflect criticism of his amoral draconian policies!

Miri,

I have in fact been to Kosovo as a child, and plan to go back. I can go back any time I want to Mitrovica. South of the Ibar there is no freedom of movement for non-albanians as you know, it is not a free and tolerant society like the rest of Serbia. Minorities have to live behind barbed wire, I hope you are proud of yourselves for that.
As for your comment that I have 'no right to decide on the fate of Kosova people', you are right.

Princip, stop your desinformayion please.

Mr Blair, Mr Chirac, and all Europeans leaders were right to be afraid of the outcome of the war in Kosovo, and the casualties, if NATO did not intervene. For an example, I always use what happened in Cuska,Zahac, and two neighboring villages . More than 100 men killed on that day, and the Dobraj family in Zahac lost their husbands and fathers in the May 14th Serb militia attack.

Putin is a thug who has used intimidation and violence to benefit himself throughout his political career. Say what you want about George W. Finally even the Russians are showing signs of desperation. Putin knows full well that he cannot do anything to stop Kosova's independence and in fact relying on Russia was Serbia's biggest and dumbest idea. It would have fared much much better on its own. Now with Uncle Putin becoming more and more authoritarian and anti-Western by the day, Russia's support for Serbia actually turned into a blessing for Kosova.
