Peter,
you wrote that: "[...]the EU would be the best thing for Serbia." It could be true but not as Serbia's membership in this entity. Just (as I said sometime ago) close cooperation. Then as you said:" They can still have close relations with Russia, no one will stop them from this [...]"

And this is the best solution for Serbia. EU will try to do everything to get Serbia as a member "and the funding that the EU can bring speedy economic development, which will benefit Serbs more than anything else."

Also resurgent Russia will invest a lot in Serbia in order to keep it away from NATO and associated to this organization, EU.

If all of this will happen kosovo Albanians will "unilaterally" declare "dependence" on Serbia.

Serbia should not be quick with the SAA. Why sign something that they may have to break after many EU countries attempt to sever Serbia's borders? Make the EU fly everything into Kosovo or ship it to Greece. Otherwise, charge massive transit fees, assuring them no protection as they travel.

Remember, the EU is part of the troika the supports only Albanian independence. I think the EU wants the SAA signed now so they can sink into Serbia's back after they acknowledge unilateral independence.

While the EU is not fully NATO, there is really very few differences in their membership.

I think that in terms of geopolitical positioning, the EU would be the best thing for Serbia. Meeting all conditions necessary to sign the SAA, I hope Serbia will go further with this. They can still have close relations with Russia, no one will stop them from this, but inevitably they will be surrounded by EU states and the funding that the EU can bring speedy economic development, which will benefit Serbs more than anything else. Serbia needs to remember that EU does not equal NATO, EU can only bring about the best for Serbia.

Put Serbia and Kosovo on a dual-track route to the EU. The two are inextricably linked, no matter how much some people think otherwise.

And Clean Cut, which other surrounding countries did not sign the SAA? you mean Bosnia? or Kosovo? The first is not ready many years to come, the latter is not independent and anyway lightyears away from that SAA. For your info, to sign that SAA you need to fullfill certain things checked by the EU. And Serbia obviously did!
So it is not that Serbia is treated differently at all, it is one of the last countries in Europe to sign it!

Mr Solana, please give us all break with that carrot. Serbia is not taking the offer and you know why. I am laughing to your offer.

Maybe Solana should remind the local leaderhip representing less that 45% of ethnic-Albanians in Serbia's province that illegal declarations will remain illegal and keep them at the table for more jaw-jaw post 10th December.

Serbia clearly is well prepared for all and any eventualities in preserving its Sovereignity and the sudden mention of SAA does not make the slightest difference in this position.

However, it is a total shame that it has taken the West 8 years of continued human rights abuse to suggest replacing/disbanding the KFC local police in Serbia's province and flood the province with thousands of their EU police.

Clearly there will be no illegal declarations come the 11th December and this is a clear and unequivocal signal to the Serbian Albanians in the Serbian province that they are in the state they are i.e. Serbia! I guess the highest Serbian institution namely the passport office will get even busier with SAA signed !

Even though this is good news to Serbia, it is not fair to other Serbian neighbours who have worked really hard to achieve the SAA signing. While they did this by imposing high European standards in their countries, Serbia is trying to achieve it by blackmailing the international community with threats of violence in Kosova and Bosnia. How much longer will Serbia enjoy the "privileged baby" status, while being the "Little Chucky"?
