For all that Russia has done for the Serbs regarding Kosovo, I would give them RTB for free!!!
(Slavko, 23 November 2007 18:06)

Russia sent mercenaries to help in Kosova. Russia has been behind Serbia since day one, they deserve RTB just based on political reasons. Considering that Russia is "becoming a super power" just because of the 7% oil that is sitting on..you should put your faith, money, and hopes all into Russia. Completely!

Princip,
"so he only sees the money up front but not the TOTAL price and investment (SMR bid 370 + 414 = 784 mil, A-TEH bid 466 + 180 = 646 mil)that is being offered? "

Who is to say that Russians will invest 414mil, and they will keep their promise?

Are you or anyone going to count every penny they will invest? If, say they invest only 100mil in next 5 years, are you going to say, well sorry but you promised us 414mil. Are you going to ask them to leave?
I don't thinks so nor do I think they will invest as much as they claim they will.

It's obvious the money in your hands are much secure than the promised money. The promised money(investment) might or might not materialise.

I totally agree with Martin.

give them your house for free, that can't be too difficult to arrange. talk to the russian embassy wherever it is you live and say, here, for all you've done, here's my house for free.
as for rtb, serbia is not some banana republic or a joke of a country. if russians are our allies that will have to be based on normal terms and not illegal favoritism of russian companies that damages our state and lives of our people. there are rules in this tender, those who offer the most win. end of story.

"who expects the decision on the winner to be taken long before the deadline for submission of offers in 30 days' time."

- does this mean a higher bid can still be placed within the bext 30 days?

In which case who is to say this is the end of it surely it was premature to announce the bids thus far in that case. Are we now possibly expecting a upping of the bid - clearly as much as Andrić like to conclude the winner technically he can't if there are still 30 days for the submission of offers.

Austrians are serious investors with deep pockets. Just compare OMV's new petrol stations and the new ones from LUKOIL, not to mention the Beopetrol ones that LUKOIL acquired and then failed to invest in. Once the Austians buy Bor it is up to them to make a go of it, this is the whole point of privatizing it. Any money they invest afterwards is investing in themselves. They are the best judge of this. Anyway, who would prefer to fly Aeroflot owned JAT to Austrian Airlines owned JAT ? Note that the Russians themselves also prefer to fly with a Western carrier.
The State should sell to the highest bidder, as long as the funds are not from a criminal enterprise (which has sometimes been the case).

It's difficult to juge here since Russians could easly hide the true investments and Also if buisness goes well the Austrians could invest more... but that's speculations and what is real is the price paid for.

Who is this Luka Andrić kidding;

"Had they wanted to make a better bid, they would have offered USD 700mn, and would have won"

- so he only sees the money up front but not the TOTAL price and investment (SMR bid 370 + 414 = 784 mil, A-TEH bid 466 + 180 = 646 mil)that is being offered?

Way to go with such a 'who cares about the future jobs and development of the company and economy as a whole' attitude - someone needs to ensure that the right choice for future jobs and economic development is made as it is clear that this guy is only looking at the immediate up front position. Serbia needs a long term outlook for continued economic growth not just a get rich quick and to hell with the consequence when you have nothing left to sell attitude.

Its quite dissapointing to hear such a comment from the 'President of Tenders' that he does not care about future investment, job security and economic development.
