"Some people can't help it but be always negative about almost everythin. I believe that K-Serbs could be included easily in the government. It is the policy of fear and lies from Belgrade that confuses them to the point that they cannot trust even their own local leaders.

If it was so easy to win the K-Serbs over, Pristina would have been able to do it long ago. You had 8 years (since 1999) to do so and obviously you failed. And failed completely. The K-Serbs don't trust you, period. Not after March 2004. That is the reason. Of course it is always very convenient to blame others for one's own failures.

UMNIK should seriosly be concerned about disarming K-albanian population before making statements like this.
Trying to pretend that this are civilized elections with people still behind barber wires and ghetos is nothing but a sick joke. And this is just the latest show of distrust for UMNIK and others who love nothing more but making living on poore and unfortunate.

"Even more proof that Kosovo Serbs should have praised nd accepted the Ahtisaari plan, which would have given them great priviledges in this Serb majority areas.

Now they can enjoy the mess that they've created, and hope it doesn't bite them too hard...but if it does, they can go to Kosta, Tadic, or Vuk, maybe they can provide a solution.

Oh, that's right, they can't, 'cuz they have no say over Kosovo politics.

Mmmm, how unfair huh!

I don't think the K-Serbs in the north cares two hoots about having any say in Pristina. They just want to remain tied to Belgrade, which they are already anyway through the parallel institutions.

Yes, the Serb boycott does create probblems for Pritina and Ruecker who are actualy desperate to project a facade (farce actually!) of "multiethnic Kosovo" to the world. Yes, Funcakes, its unfair ..... but for UNMIK and the Albanians really.

Actually in my personal opinion, Pristina can solve this problem immediately -- give up the north and the K-Serbs there, and just declare your independence for the rest of Kosovo. You wouldn't even need then to fake compliance with those constraints posed by Ahtissari!

The alternative to this is to forever keep trying (and then failing) to include the K-Serbs. To always having this millstone around your neck of having to prove to the whole world watching that you are treating them far more than just fairly (as per Ahtissari's provisions) and having to spend more and more on a minority that can be expected to be vocal and unappreciative just to keep them from complaining and making yourselves highly vulnerable to charges of discrimination and intimidation? Is this worth it in the long run? What will your other citizens think about this perpetual "preferential" treatment for the minorities which is not by your democratic choice? Kosovo is not exactly filthy rich like Kuwait or Switzerland.

There is no solution without a problem. I am sure that the West and K-Albanians will find a formula to include K-Serbs in the power-share. Everything will be just fine. We should trust more in people. Kosova Independence and the final peace is very near.

"study by the Institute for European Politics, a Berlin think-tank, says the severely impoverished territory has little prospect of democratic progress because the building of a functioning multi-ethnic society has failed and does not exist "outside the bureaucratic phrases of the international community". The study describes the European Union's security strategy for an independent Kosovo as flawed. The authors accuse Nato and the UN of creating a culture of systematic repression of critical reports in order to present Kosovo as a success story."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/03/18/wkosovo18.xml

"The 124-page report blames the bleak prospects for the province's future on the UN administration, the NATO-led KFOR mission and the Europeans' "ostrich" policy. The study outlines mismanagement, corruption, organizational chaos and "organized crime gangs," which have infiltrated significant parts of the KFOR staff. The role of the United States is also deemed counterproductive: The IEP accuses Washington of being involved in helping criminals to flee, "sometimes openly" hindering European investigations into war crimes and training former KLA fighters -- an "obvious" breach of the UN resolution.
