they should stay where they are, no one needs them in serbia.

they can make huge business with the kosovo republic!

;-)

btw. why should they risk investments, when they have a regime that phantasizes about kosovo´s indiependence and thereafter will be renationalisized?

just click on to see about what a rigime out of the world we talk about (they want russia into the eu - MEGA-LOL - or after their defeat in south-irak, they phantasize about a war with iran, and so on).

He is talking about the wages which are lower than in western Europe but the quality of the workforce is still good... This is an advantage for Serbia to attract investments and by time the wages would grow while unemployment decreases...

Why would a company pay 1000 Euro now while the average is 350 euro per worker?

Did the Brits ever apologize for participating in the bombing of Serbia? Keep your imperialistic pounds to yourself, UK. The Serbs can do a lot better trading with their friends.

I agree with you, bmrusila, that it is very distasteful after helping (actually encouraging in the case of Blair) to smash up a nation, the same perpetrator should then go in and take advantage of the resources and 'cheap' labour.

Particularly when local people can barely afford to eat, and when promised reparation hasn't been made.

Personally, I also find it very annoying when people all become interested in buying holiday homes in former war zones, when they didn't even pay attention to what was happening at the time. "Oh, was there a war? But it's lovely now..."

There is a great line in a song from someone like Hendrix which covers this exactly, but I just can't remember what it is.

But, the reality is that this is always going to happen and better to take advantage of it than be left out of the loop.

After all, once prosperous the workforces will be in place and able to demand higher wages. Plus there will be spin-off benefits domestically etc.

BTW, for cheap labour such as in call centres, British companies are using Scottish, Welsh and Indian cheap labour. Things change.

Serbia's advantage in attracting fresh capital from abroad, in his opinion, lies in qualified but cheaper workforce, good geographical position and free trade agreements with Russia and regional countries.

After this statment I would never let any foreign company to invest in Serbia if the treatment of the work force is not in the same level as it is in Euorope. For cheaper work force you may go to Taiwan or any other Asia cheap leabour but Serbian government should not allow foreigners to treat our work force as cheaper one. If some is ready to invest then it must be rady to pay fair. Since Serbia offer foreigners all the benefits, such as position, free trade with Russia etc...then they should be rady to pay for that as it should. If not, then foreigners should look for another country
