"I am still planning to visite Serbia and be pleasantly surprised."
(Joe, 18. November 2007 21:03)

Ah, so you've never been to Serbia, or you haven't been to Serbia and gotten a good feeling out of the experience? If it's the former, then what gives you any sense of authority in speaking on behalf of the Hungarian minority in Vojvodina all the time Joe? How can you berate a country and a people if you've never been to said country? I don't doubt what you've been saying is somewhat true, but I daresay you have any credibility in passing judgement on a scenario you have no direct connection to.

Please, visit Serbia. Go to Belgrade, go to Novi Sad, go to Subotica, go to Sremska Mitrovica. Go with an open mind. Leave your prejudices at the door and go with an objective eye. I have a feeling you will be surprised and you will find many of the things you've heard about are grossly exaggerated. I was there in 2002, and will be returning in early 2008. My time there, as an American, was exceptional and I met some wonderful people all over the countryside.

Mind you, every country, including Serbia has its collection of jerks, but I still think you'll be surprised.

Bmrusila ...... if Serbs were such anti-fascist then why wasn't Tito a Serb ??? Instead he was a Croat.

If Serbs were such anti-fascists then why did the Allies dump Draza Mihailovic ???

Answer - Because the Chetniks were known to also side with the Italians and Germans when it suited them.

The fact is that larger numbers of Croats fought on the side of the partisans than they did with the Ustasha. My own Grandparents from day one joined the partisans ....

Stating that virtually all Croats were Nazis has always been one of the biggest myths from WW2.

Regarding Mesic, he changes his opinions frequently as the weather changes ....

“After all, the independence movement for Croatia was funded from Australia, Canada, US, Argentina, Germany, Austria, and other countries abroad who have large Croat populations. These Croats are the escaped Nazi Ustashe, and their ideology has successfully taken over that country.”

“After all, the independence movement for Ukraine was funded from Australia, Canada, US, Argentina, Germany, Austria, and other countries abroad who have large Ukrainian populations. These Ukrainians are the escaped Nazi Banderivtsi, and their ideology has successfully taken over that country.”

Poor Serbia. Poor Russia. Still struggling to accept the loss of their former mega-states (Soviet Union, Yugoslavia).

The EU, being an economic union, would sell their mother's for economic gain. What do they care about Ustashe or what not? They only see the Euro as their god.

Dragan,

I know only that Croates are much more tolerant than Serbs. Around Osiek Hungarians are not beaten, harassed like Hungarians in Temelin and other places. As an American I visited Croatia several times few years ago with Hungarians of Hungary. Everywhere I encountered friendliness and civilized attitude. When I asked my friends if we could also visite Serbia they faces froze. Than they told me "let wait few years ....for Hungarians it is not a save place to go". Did they exagerate? I am still planning to visite Serbia and be pleasantly surprised.

So the truth about Stipe is coming out. I think all Croat politicians are the same. After all, the independence movement for Croatia was funded from Australia, Canada, US, Argentina, Germany, Austria, and other countries abroad who have large Croat populations. These Croats are the escaped Nazi Ustashe, and their ideology has successfully taken over that country. All you have to do is see 60,000 fans doing the sieg heil to a Nazi singer in Zagreb, and that tells you what type of country it is. What I find amazing is how the EU just ignores and turns its head.

This man should not speak at all. He changes his mind each month. One thing he forgot to say and be honest to the end. Most of the Croats during WW2 were just Nazi servants and just a few Croats were partisans. They massively begun to join partisans at the end of the war when realised that Germany is on tis way to be defeated once for good. However, Mesic is right when saying that Croatia would be nothing more than the past if there was no war in 90's when Germany did finally fulfilled the promise once given some half century ago prior to newest war. Germany could not forget its loyal servants who once were ready to die for German cause. And as for that kneeling in Jasenovac I really wonder who asked him for such thing since knowing that Serbs do not ask for such thing, neither Serbia ever asked Croatia to applogise for the crimes they did. Serbia is proud country and do not ask from anyone to kneel before Serbia. It is more, I would say Croatian and Bosniak style to ask for some applogy and kneeling. Why to force anyone to appologise or kneel if the feeling are not honest. It is just as I would never kneel before any death scaffold if it was not Serbian.

Stipe, Stipe, as you get older you get more 'outrageous' in your comments. Still I'm glad you are finally coming round to my point of view (in public, who knows what you believe/d in private).

Its a pity you didnt feel free to speak like this whilst you were in HDZ.
