SinCity, these are crimes against women and civilians, not alleged crimes against soldiers during the heat of a heavy battle. And also with no autopsy evidence given on any alleged individual Croat soldiers who died - explaining how they died and if there was any evidence of torture or mutilation as there was on the Serbian women.

Sin City I would have thought that anybody would have been outraged about what happened in the Medak pocket.

I notice that you bring up crimes against Croats but dont condemn this Medak operation.

Not talking in the abstract now... Double standards perhaps?

Hmm, Serbs here outraged at what happened. Pity some of you didn't hold similar feelings of outrage when the "Vukovar Three" received lenient sentences under Serbia courts ..... double standards perhaps ???

"Yeah right, if I was one of them I would not return to testify for fear of being arrested."

I thought a good place for a war crimes trial would be right along the border, with foreign supervision or in a fairly nearby (as compared to the ICTY at the Hague) neutral country such as the Czech Republic. In that way witnesses would be safer and feel more free to testify.

This is horrific.

"After these witnesses failed to respond to court summons concerning the matter, the court offered them a guarantee that they would not be arrested on entry into Croatia for other alleged crimes"

Yeah right, if I was one of them I would not return to testify for fear of being arrested. Isnt that the decision of the prosecution service and police and not of the court?

In Serbia video link testifying has been used in war crimes cases. I see no reason why this cant be used in Croatian courts as well.
