“I am glad I live in Western Europe!”

Nope.

Serbia is not in the European Union.

Serbia is not in NATO.

Serbia doesn’t use the Euro.

Serbians, too enter Western Europe, need visas.

Sorry, but Serbia IS NOT Western Europe.

Ron, I hope you face did not turn blue by now, screaming on the top of your lungs "Kosovo is Serbia".
Come on Ron, go apply for visa to visit Kosova, and find out who Kosova belongs to.

Great. Participation in the forthcoming elections is all about exercising rights. These elections, like Troika’s 14 point plan are status neutral. This time around a general admission prevails amongst all parties in Kosova that they can not influence the status outcome thus no reference are made about a possible result. These elections are mainly about economic development strategies. Hats off to them Serbs who would participate on 17th. Faced with pressure on two fronts their civil courage should be commended.

I blogged about this a couple of days ago. It's truly sad to see Kosovo Serbs do this to themselves. 4 years until next elections are a long time.

" The withdrawals took place following advice from the government in Belgrade to boycott the elections. "

B92, I'm afraid it wasn't purely friendly advice, but rather threats and intimidation coming from the Serbia Coordination Centre in Kosova that did most of the job. Check with OSCE in Prishtina about this.
Anybody that thinks that the 6% Serb population not participating will prevent independence is delusional. Way to go!

Well, this kind of makes me think of packing my bags from Belgrade and heading down to Kosovo to start a political party. I'd be in Kosovo parliament in no time at all.

But seriously these Serb representatives, does anybody believe they have more than a handful of people in their parties and most of them are probably friends and family... :(

b-92 = "However, some places have missed out, such as Zubin Potok, where only two Albanian parties have submitted their registration."

Does that mean that Albanians will rule Zubin Potok after all? I think so!

Having 30 Serb lists for roughly 100 000 Serbs shows a high level of division. I think the interests of the Serbs in Kosova would be served much better if they were to unite in one or two big parties or umbrella organizations. Otherwise having parties with an average of 3000 supporters each is unlikely to be a successful way of promoting Serb interests.
