I think some of these witnesses are not really scared of what will happen to them and their families, rather than they can't bear the fact that they have to live the rest of their lives on shame for testifying against Haradinaj.
Its all very well arresting this guy but for God's sake should they not try to understand why he wont testify?
They do understand (I hear you say) - well the answer then is not to arrest witnesses, but to give them and their families adequate protection. Granted in Kosovo thats very difficult but some witnesses have been moved to Germany and other countries.
When this kind of pressure is obvious I think its also the responsibility of a prosecutor to raise this and for the judges to look at and judge the accused accordingly.
This case has been dogged by witness problems due to alleged threats. This says something about the likelihood of Haradinaj's methods / guilt - no matter what one thinks of him.
There will never be a fair and just trial in this Haradinaj case. If witnesses are in fear to speak before the court, can you imagine what peoples lives in Kosovo would be like if ruled by separatist thugs.
