«Do you really think that Tadic would put one man above 10M Serbs? You are honestly insulting people's intelligence here. »

Mladic is not an ordinary Serb; he is a hero to million of Serbs, no matter what happened in Srebrenica. Through the years, many Serbs told me that Mladic saved their life as a people and as a nation.

This is a strong argument and Tadic, who is an intelligent man, knows this.

As a Serb, you know this!

Hey Misa, I see you are trying to be clever with me, but honestly doesn't really work like that:

First you know to whome I'm refering.
Secondly a "Far West" situation is not a phisycal space but a situation that happens in a state of caos.
Thirdly Serbia is trying hard to improve things, suggesting solutions, try to ammend to past mistakes, while From the Albanian camp the only thing we can hear is either a "NE" or "Bush Help us..."!

Then Victor who is constantly on this thing about Mladic and how easy would be to catch him: Do you really think that Tadic would put one man above 10M Serbs? You are honestly insulting people's intelligence here.

wish you all a good Day!

You have to say that Delta really deserve all this negative publicity for their ineptitude in handling the situation.

Politicians are paid more than enough in Serbia Kate. And they also tend to milk the expenses available for them - hotel stays in Belgrade, every time a car is used petrol charge it to the people. MP's even take tunrs in sharing a car ride down to Belgrade and then both charge for the journey seperately - as they dont have to supply any receipts.

Alongside this politicians in Serbia get TV coverage like rock stars in the west. You have parliamentary comittees to join for extra cash. You have places on public companies, private PR firms queing up because of your contacts etc etc etc.
Thats only the legal stuff.

Soon they will likely all get free laptops as well. Hell, I say they should just all be given mansions in Dedinje, given a million Euros each and a jeep for every member of their family! Actually some already have this.

No, Serbian politicians have far too much already. They will never quit their outside interests. Why should they? They dont have constituencies and many dont bother to turn up to debates. So many have nothing to do with their time apart from do jobs on the side.

I agree with you that politicians should not have outside interests. But I think the argument that they should be paid more to prevent this is ridiculous. Laws should be implemented to prevent outside interests with strict jail terms.

Serbian politicians (and others) dont take jobs on the side out of poverty. They do it because they believe they can get away with it.

Hello Marko,

Who are those "you guys"?
What is this "Far West"? Utah, Missouri, ??

I guess Serbia will not change much in the comming decades. Why should it? Everything seems to be perfect in Serbia.

Misa, I understand why you laugh! I also had a green smile!

How can Tadic say that nobody is above the law, and Mladic is still free and not be arrested when Tadic had numerous occasions to do so?

How come some of Seselj 10 000 boys who committed crimes during the war are not put on trial for what they did?

During the war, it is of common knowledge that 100s of paramilitary units and local militias were formed to fight for Serbia and committed outrageous crimes. Where are they today? Are they above the law?

Hey Misa, soon you wont be laughing that much. You guys are trying to turn this part of the Balkans into Far West. It's not going to happen!

This is all good - the start of an openness of government and eradication of 'networking' and corruption which will really serve Serbia's interests and move them forward. I have a lot of time for Tadic.

I am interested to know whether politicians in Serbia are paid a proportionally fair salary. In the UK the politicians are paid far less than in the rest of Europe, and because of that they have many outside interests and means of income which are often questionable.

Personally I think that being a politician should exclude all outside activities or involvement with groups/ companies which could prejudice votes.
