Having access to the sea hasn't stoppped Albania from being one of the poorest countries in Europe.

So now you think if Kosovo Albanians rule the province that things will get better? I highly doubt that, they have shown their mismanagement already during the past 8 years. Albania has been under Albanian rule for a long time now, and what has Albania achieved?

Your "other" solution would not bring stability to the region, that is for sure.

The only reason that Kosova is still an undeveloped region is because it has been a Serbian Colony for more than 100 years. The people of Kosova were never allowed to run their place. When they did for a few years, Slobodan Milosevic, a Serb, decided otherwise and took the power from them, again!
Clean Cut

Kosovo was decent place to live even in Milosevic time. Kosovo within Yugo was constatly on its way in developing from the money that all the citizens of former Yugo were giving. Albanians had all the power withing former Yugo (it was your problem that you wanted independence and gave up everything that was offered to you). If Albanians were capable to run the country they would already within 8 years of de facto independence made some progress (but they are still stcked and not moving). As far as I know Albanians from Albania are also very poor and undeveloped and I dare to say that there were no Serbs to obstruct their development. But the pictures and results are speaking speaking for itself, the words in this case have no meaning. I presume that your politicans in Kosovo will continue to blame Serbs for everything in order to camouflage their failure

Kosova has all the necessary means to be all-selfsufficient, even much better than that. It has the educated people, the institutions, the hierarchy of the state, and all the resources as well.

Kosova will be de jure independent very soon. Ahtisaari Plan is the best solution for Albanians and Serbs living in Kosova. Otherwise, the other best solution will be the re-union of Kosova with Albania, just like Italians did in the WWII. Maybe that would be more "self-sufficient", if that is the "keyword" bothering some posters here.

These are quite possibly some of the stupidest comments I've seen collectively together on B92. It's like a collection of 3rd graders fighting over the sandbox.

Without Russia, France would be a province of Nazi Germany.
Sarkozy should be quiet and let Putin speak.

Bush's foreign policy is a disaster. Iraq; enough said.
Could you imagine if Russia were responsible for a slaughter like that what all the pundits would be saying?

Victor

«I thank the president for taking the initiative in solving the Kosovo problem...»

And the solution would be USA style, no matter what Russia has to say. And I am sure that Mr Sarkozy's task would be to 'meet' Mr Putin to tell him what is best for the Serbs.

Kosovo's independence is a matter of months, and both France and the USA are ready for the unilateral declaration of the independence of Kosovo to me made on Dec. 10th.

Bush: Kosova will be independent.
Sarkozy: Yeah, I know. That's what we say too.
Bush: Really? Let me give you a hug.
Sarkozy: O.K. I believe Merkel says the same thing.
Bush: Really? This is gonna be fun. I'm gonna hug the whole world.

Kosova is de facto independent. De jure - very, very soon.

I always thought France where going to take a neutral stance and Germany being more pro Independence but it seems to be contrary having the France being the most pro EU state for Independence after UK. Now moving to the US stance, if Bush could invade a country, what makes you think he will ask Serbia what they want? Let Russia play and tough see who will come out the winner.

Thats what you care about raising your flag in Kosova. You do not care about the people living there.

How about international law when your troops tried to cleans Kosova.

the serbian flag will never rise in kosovo, face the fact, we tok back our land 1999, you have to kill all albanians, american forces, and nato to be able to rise your flag there.

given that the german stance is important here, this is good news.

since Mr.Sarkozy is trying to get between the american-german embrace...this could be an opportunity for Germany to show the US that there are also other views in the world...

thanks to Sarkozy for possibly showing Germany that it should look out for new partners( without cutting ties with old partners of course )!
