The argument seems to be over being independent “Serbian” Muslims looking to Belgrade, or being one with the Bosnian Muslims and turning to Sarajevo for guidance. We may be witnessing the birth of a whole new type of Balkan identity here. Srpskiaks as opposed to Bosniaks? Sandzakians?

Kristina,

Maybe the Serbian identity is changing? Maybe some Serbs actually do want to live in a multi-cultural Serbia rather than an Apartheid Serbia.

Maybe Muslim Slavs in Serbia don't want to be known as "Bosnians" just because they are Muslim.

Identity is not permanent, it is fluid.
