Dear readers,
First I want to genuinely thank B92 for having a mechanism where free speech in its truest form can be expressed.
On the topic of Bosnia and its 'three' nationalities, I tend to disagree with most. For people who have had multiple generations live in the one same country to identify themselves as people from a totally different country is absurd. That is, why should there be a distinction (on the basis of nationality) between a Serb, Croat or Muslim having many generations living in Bosnia?
They are all BOSNIANS who may have a different RELIGIOUS background - which should not by any means detach them from the geographical and historical fact that they are simply BOSNIANS.
If I live in Canada, why should my descendants (even a few generations away) refer to themselves as anything but Canadians? Yes, they may have a specific religious background and their ancestors are of a different nationality - but it is absurd for them to identify themselves as anything but Canadians (for example).
We should stop these religiously-based divisions in Bosnia. They have no place in a country that has been ravaged for those same reasons by years of war. There is no place for religious intolerance and segregation in Bosnia and Hercegovina.
Warm regards to all readers. Even though you may disagree with me, I have the utmost respect for you in expressing your opinions and removing some misconceptions through a free discussion.
