So 7% of Serbs now openly support independence, meaning the proportion would be much higher if put together as an either/or (ie, Kosova independence or EU membership etc). By way of comparison, 0.00001% of Kosovar Albanians do not support independence, so guess which side is more divided?

Victor,

Thats right Victor there is no bread in Serbia, or farms, or wheat or corn!

Serbs are resilient and satisfied with a simple life. Notice how we are not in such a hurry to join the EU like some of our balkan neigbours. We would rather be true to the Serb ideal, respect our military veterans, and our BORDERS than sell out.

We could survive on grass if we had to, and would do it, if someone sad that we had to stop being Serbs.

«Although 35 percent of Serbians think Kosovo will be independent, only seven percent support the outcome, i.e. independence of Kosovo.»

In reality, I am sure that the percentage is very much higher. According to my friend Boris, from Kragujevac, most Serbs in Serbia don't give a dawm about the outcome. What they want is bread for their children, a more prosperous economy and peace.

George Soros and the US that supports B92 would be proud of this article. Yes, I agree with Jovan, no mention of who those citizens are. Last time I checked, Serbia had about 25 percent minorities from Hungary, Slovakia, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia. Are all seven percent minorities? No. But of course one has to question who they are. If you look in California, and there is a poll on illegal immigration, you'd find that those who support giving them citizenship would mostly comprise of Mexicans, and not the typical anglo-saxon American with citizenship. The point is... B92 is notorious for being biased against the Serbs.

I doubt they'd post this comment because many of them look down on anyone who is patriotic and loves Serbia. But there are plenty of Albanian Pro-independence posts. That's always plentiful.

Clean cut,

Kosovo is already independent?
Hmm, strange. I check CNN everyday but I saw no mentioning of a deal between Serbia and the Serbian province of Kosovo.

Did you?

"7 percent is not enough for a referendum to succeed.
Sorry, but I don't see an independent Kosovo happen", said ron.
Hey Ron, i don't care about 7 % of Serbs backing kosova Independence, Because 95% of Kosova backs the Independence. When referendum was held in Qubeck , it did not involve ebtire Canadian population , right. therefore Serbs have no need to be part of referendum. you are beating on dead horse my friend.

guida,

Sorry I have a life apart from the Kosovo issue.
So should every one else.
Guys, it is just a Serbian province.

No world shocking event.

Kosovo is Serbian!

KS,

7 percent is not enough for a referendum to succeed.

But hey, even the Dutch people who live in Northern France are happy :)

Get a life in Europe! Kosovo is Serbian!

Ron said "Stay firm on this one: no illegal independence for the Serbian province of Kosovo."

I assure you that no state has ever gone and will ever go to prison, or be fined, for declaring independence anywhere in the world, anytime. Your favorite group of words "illegal independence" thus is nonsensical. Think of something better to describe your frustration.

These are some scary numbers that should worry the Serbs very much. A nationalistic way of government is not the way things are run in this world anymore, and the more they continue with this path...the bigger will be the hole that they will be digging for themselves.

I mean, they put Hague Cooperation in 10th place and EU integration out of the Top 10...this is simply SCARY.

Even if none of the tragedies in Kosovo had happened, just by the results of this poll alone, Kosovo should have the right to break free from a country that is cutting it's own veins!

they should be a little more accurate... who was interviewed...ethnic Serbs or serbian citizens ( which can also be Albanians, Romanians, Hungarians etc ... )

a milestone of journalistic information, I guess.

I am really saddened that there is no real, professional service working on this...

We remember 1244!

A Dayton-1244 deal is possible of course: RS for Kosovo!
