TSJT3 - I understand where you're coming from - I am in the UK where immigration is a permanent headline in the news.

But the point is that once people are taken in they have to be treated right. Criminals go through the justice system, the needy receive help from the state, children are educated etc.

I know what bad feeling this can create in a host nation, but it's the only way to go in modern Europe. And yes there should be strict safeguards and rules of immigration, but only within the law.

500 000 Romanians left Romania for Italy in one year? That could be viewed as a shame as well.

For many decades Italy has taken in many refugees and migrants. How many times has Italy received thanks in the media from these people whose lives changed for the better because of Italy?

This is an outrage. Italy should be ashamed. What about the children in this camp? Where were people re-housed? Or were they all guilty by default for a crime which hasn't even reached court?

Truly disgusting xenophobia.

Italians are always afraid of competition. They recently conducted raids against foreign prostitutes only. Now it seemms they are after fopreign thieves. Theft is also a sport mastered by Italians. Italy should look at South Italy and clean their own soil for illegal activities before shaouting too loud after other EU members. Romania and Italy may even be in the same categori ofm countries that still lack full understanding for European norms and standards.
