Now we're heading towards a competition about what country has the biggest mall. I would like to live in a country with no malls at all. Well Serbia, welcome to kapitalism. Commerce is taking over. It all looks very nice and cheerful but beware; it'll slowly take away all of your beautiful traditions.

Enclosed shopping malls, needing 24/7 HVAC are the thing of the past. North America is slowly moving out of this concept and Serbia is embracing it.

Belgrade had open shopping mall America discovers now thirty years ago (old Merkator in Novi Beograd)

Boasting who has biggger shopping mall is so sad.

As Joni Mitchell sang long time ago,

"...Don’t it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got
‘Til it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot..."

This Delta city has 130 stores plus caffes, restaurants, bowling place and cineplex(6).Next year Delta will start building another, much bigger Deltacity (200.000 square meters)in old part of Belgrade, that one will be finished in 2009.And then one more so it will be 3 of them in BG.Another company,MPC is already building another mall on New Belgrade(Usce),bigger then this one, which will be 130.000 square meters,it will be finished next year. There you go...

I'm American and in my hometown the mall only has about 100 stores, so 230+ soudns pretty good. I'm looking forward to checking out this mall (I live here in Bgd). I just hope it's not all insanely overpriced like a lot of the other Miškovic owned enterprises.

To Franz,Fairplay and Bganon:For your kind information the reason why I'm comparing this Serbian mall to Mall of America and West Edmonton Mall is because though they're not equal in size or shops they are the largest malls in their respective nations (Serbia,United States & Canada.)For you Fairplay I agree West Edmonton Mall is much larger than this new Serbian mall but you agree there's nothing wrong in making these comparisons, right? As for you Bganon & Franz I don't know why you find my comments irrelevant or confusing so therefore if you read my comments maybe you'll gain an understanding but if you still don't understand then I don't know what else you guys like me to write.(Bganon&Franz)

Yeah yeah, in America is everything bigger and better. Thank God the whole world isn't like America. Although we're heading strongly in that direction. Poor world...

The mall contains a number of restaurants, cinecomplex and a bowling ally.

I dont know how one can compare a Serbian mall with a US mall. The point is that it is the largest in the Balkans and another even bigger mall is also being built by Miskovic in Belgrade.

Fairplay

Canada's Edmonton Mall is the biggest one in Canada and maybe also in the world. I think you can't make a comparaison between Delta and that one.

John,
to any outsider, it seems that the main goal of the majority of bloggerspace albanians is to create some kind of continuous presence in any article where the magic prefix "serb*" exists.

So, i guess apart from you, a good deal of people was amused by my comment.

It's big. I was outside it this weekend. It's 3 floors with a movie theatre and other stuff. No Camp Snoopy though. It's like a quarter of the size of the Mall of America, which is still very very big for Europe.

NA- Europe if you have ever been is different than America or Canada. Under one roof there usually isn't some grand mall. Space is hard to come by and also most stuff is just outdoors and off the street so this is pretty big for the region considering cultural differences.

But how many stores does this mall contain? When I think of large shopping centers I think of Canada's West Edmonton Mall (Edmonton,Alberta)which I believe contains shops in the 800 range and Mall of America (Bloomington,Minnesota,U.S.A.) which contains over 400 or 500 shops.Furthermore does this mall contain restauraunts even an indoor amusement park? Certainly Mall of America contains restauraunts even an indoor amusement park and how I'm certain is because I've visited the Mall of America 12 times!

NA: Dot know what the use of your comment is? It is the biggest on the Balkan. what has that to do with America?
I just came back froma visit there and it is impressive. No amusement centar but that is because we are Europeans we don't need an amusement centre in a shopping mall!that's typical American. Anyway, for your knowledge, there are more then 230 shops and 5 cinema's.Any questions?
