I can understand that someone’s religious beliefs could be perceived as exclusive versions of truth but Serbia is neither a nation of only priests nor solely of nuns and monks.
Self criticism is the cornerstone of any social emancipatory project and Mr Arsenijevic should be congratulated for trying to brake some of the Serbian society’s taboos.
He certainly has nothing to be ashamed off.

arsenijevic presumably speaks for himself and describes the contents of his own mind. i am serbian and i never had that attitude toward albanians. i dont even know any albanians, except a few guys that own cookie stores in my town whom i thnik of as guys who own cookie stores and thats that. when i was a kid i envied them but not in a bad way. so shame on arsenijevic for thinking and saying that. but then again he's inconsequential.

Thank you village-bey for the link.
I wish any one from the serb camp would care to comment on the article by Vladimir Arsenijevic.

I can tell ur upset at the fact Kosovo is realistically as close to independence as Vojvodina. Try to understand that enough was enough apparently 3 months ago. I bet Bush was really trying to tell you enough is enough, Kosovo cannot become a seprate state. Because thats the way the world sees it now and not just Belgrade.

"but not independence, no seat in the UN nor control over defense and foreign policies."

Hell! We have more already. Why in the world would Kosova give that up and go back to Serbia?
Jeremic cannot envisage a UN seat for Kosova. It is not as if it is up to Serbia anymore.
And getting Kosova demilitarized?! Why so that Serbia can do what it pleases there? It will never happen. It's that simple. The KPC is there, and it is the nucleus of the future army of Kosova. And Princip I am sure that your Czar Lazar had some very optimistic words to say on the eve of the Battle of Kosova and look how that went. It wasn't a great success story now was it? I feel that you are all in for a very similar sort of surprise because Kosova is gone. For good. Look after Sandzak and Vojvodina while it is not too late and forget Kosova.

Princip, what you are saying are the illusions of the failed politicians of the foregone era don’t associate them with yourself. Former republic of ex-SRFJ Serbia is trying to prove that they have moved from the dark ages but they are constantly failing. They’re also trying to tell that they are controlling Kosova but they are failing in that to. What are they trying to do is, with Kosova issue, to win as much voter as they can form the Radicals, that’s it.

SAA will be the only bargain that Serbia will get for Independence of Kosova, nothing else.

"Basically, we are looking at the territory of Kosovo and what we are saying is that its future status will be determined by who runs what," Jeremić
If it wasn’t for the modern time references one could easily mistake this statement for that of an East India Company representative at beginning of the 19th century.
Time is of essence here. Not only the concept of the state is well outdated but also attitudes of the Serbian nationals towards Albanians that feed into the same state. The need for change is so drastic and that can be only done over a considerable amount of time.
Serbian writer Vladimir Arsenijevic suggests that Serbia needs to skip a generation in order to overcome intoxication from myth propaganda.
No constitutional formula no matter how bizarre, can overcome these grounded facts.
Here is the link of his article which I think is a must for everyone in this forum.

"I conveyed to the ambassadors our government's stand that full cooperation with the Hague tribunal is an absolute and short-term priority"

- now lets assume that Serbia is able to fully comply with the Hague in the near "short term" and gets a lucky break with regards Mladic - what then will be the position of Serbia with regards its soverignity?

The cards have been dealt and I am guessing there are a few aces to be played between now and 10th December. Serbia has been very proactive in promoting it's position while all the time showing the greatest flexibility within international laws and norms. The meeting of Jeremic with EU ambassadors will highlight even more the Principles by which Serbia basis's its position.

One thing that is certain Serbia's position is strengthening day by day with the dilomatic onslaught of the whole government both within Serbia and internationally. Much still remains to be done but clearly things look better day by day.

The Gordian knot regarding Serbia's southern province seems to be unravelling despite the US wish to tighten it ever more! Clearly a "European" solution can in one swoop cut the knot completly through the continued acceptance of Serbia's territorial soverignity.
